Heavy/quiet/heavy/quiet

ok, my 1st upload to mj, be kind! please. i did this last summer, only took a couple of hours. i dont seem to have much patience for working on the finer details, but im hoping some constructive criticism might make me go back and have another look. The song was always intended to have some vocals, but im not much of a singer and couldnt find anyone to work with, so hey ho.

	Welcome! Welcome to macJams! sounds good to me! I like the playing and the musical ideas and contrasts. the mix seems a bit widely separated, are some of the instruments in one ear only? Anyway, I think it would be good with some singin'. If you post it as an "open collab" sometimes people will rise to the challenge and provide what you need. 	Yes! Welcome to Macjams. I also like the contrasting flow of this and interesting composition. Definitely deserves to be taken further. I agree with Relic67 ask for collaboration or better still try to sing on it yourself. You might be being over critical of your voice as indeed most people are, its worth a try? thank you both, relic and len. I was kinda worried my 1st comments might have been more along the lines of "wtf is this sh*t, go away and learn how to play!"

Anyway, yes, some of the instruments probably are on one ear only, sometimes i overdub parts and pan them left and right, just to see how it sounds. And sometimes i accidentally drag 2 fingers across the screen on garageband and end up altering all the levels and panning on track! very annoying.

how do i go about posting things as an open collaboration? do i have to do that when i initially post the song?

Will probably post a track with some vocal attempts in the next few days. i have 3 or 4 ive had a go at. I'm trying to avoid the temptation to post my entire back catalogue in 1 go at the moment!

Brave
You captured what many rock artist try with out success, that is taking a hard core line and bring it down to a mellow tune. The way you fade the distorted guitar solo into the soft guitars is a practice that only experienced artist generally use. The opening four measures are a bit over distorted, but clear up. Try not to record to hot (The meters into the red.) The hard rock is not my genre but it is a great sound you have developed. I know we will hear more from you . . .

Considering this is just 2 hours, no complaints. If you where to spend longer on it sure you could even it up a bit, but what you got is very interesting. Love the brake downs and heavier parts, some really great sounds happening here. When you post, chose in Genre open Collabs and you are off. If not try forums.. I can sing, this is my problem. Good luck
