Description
Bud posted a super cool track recently called 'Tranquility Base', an ambient piece he made with his Buddha Machine. I thought it sounded amazing and was happy to see he posted it as an open collab, so I jumped on it. Because I thought Kevin's track is pretty cool as it is, and because I can't leave well enough alone, I decided to mess around with it and change it up a little. So, I split it up into two tracks, ran them through the KT Granulator and pitch shifted them quite a bit. In this song the manipulated Buddha machine tracks serve as a constant, building drone that can be thought of as the sound inside of the head of the person singing - a little like swarming bees.
The song itself is about someone who thinks he is going crazy, but welcomes it as a new beginning. Weird, I know.
Thanks for the collab, Kevin. I would have never made this song without being inspired by your track. You are officially the MacJams Buddha Machine Masta.

Lyrics
I do not understand
What you've been telling me
I'm too preoccupied
Your tongue is foreign speech

The bees inside my head
Are buzzing endlessly
My brain is shutting down
I think that I'm crazy

This is what I want
Yeah this is what I need
So I will let the bees keep working
Deep inside of me

In the final waking hours
Of my partial sanity
I will confide in you
And maybe then you'll see

That this is for the best
This baptism of fire
A brand new creation
Is just what I desire

This is what I want
Yeah this is what I need
So I will let the bees keep working
Deep inside of me

Kind of haunting delivery with the vocals is choice. Acoustic is perfect and crisp. Killer track. Thanks to you both.

this is
excellent Ridd. That's really cool that you wrote a song with vocals over the top of it. that acoustic sounds great, and the song itself is awesome. trying to get back into the swing of things here at MJ, glad I made it to this party.

The quality of your writing and talent never disappoints. Great concept - the droning adds so much to the theme of the song.

Really honored to get the Ridd treatment
What a great song you made here - the build is aces and your vocals are fantastic. I especially like the tone of the kick drum - it seems essential to the feel of the song. I must admit you took Tranquility to a place where I would never have recognized it - which is great. That's what's so cool about collabs - to have your children grow up to be cool people you'd like to meet.

Thanks a ton Kevin. I'm glad you don't mind that I essentially decimated your track lol. Seriously though, I wouldn't have written/recorded this without starting with yours first, so I appreciate and respect your work. The honor's all mine

Great track Ridd
Love the theme and the way you approached it. Lyrically excellent and your vox is spot on. The music builds and then goes back to the bees. Very cool my friend. I like it.

And I used to LIKE bees...
Very solid production, great vocal performance and pro-level song writing. Good job with the drum loops - it's really hard to mix those with live vocals and instruments and you're using them very powerfully (I think we're sharing the same loop in a completely different setting, check out 'Ambient Guitar Chill').

Anyway, can't believe I haven't commented on your work before. Also like that there's a 'new beginning', not just sadness and despondency:)

thanks a lot. i'm starting to spend a little longer on editing the drums because the loops were getting too recognizable. that said, yeah I think you're right we did use the same one lol.

Accurate
portrait of madness.
Excelent music and the image of the bee is terrfying.
Bud should be happy and proud that his ambient piece spawned so many great things.
If you have a thing for bees, look for the book "The Life of the Bee", by Maurice Maeterlinck.
It´s a poetic and old fashioned description of the life of this fascinating little being.
