Description
I've re-recorded the vocals and played around with some aspects of the mix. LE8 has a terrific final mix comp called "Refresh and Medium Compression" which really evens the mix out without destroying dynamics.

Lyrics
Turning back to Wideawake
Now I can breathe again
There's an empty sky behind me
There's another man shouldering my burden

And if we die tomorrow
We'll leave colours in the air
And should we burn tomorrow
I'll be glad that you weren't there

Touching down at Wideawake
Your voice is all I hear
There's a distance between us
There's a chance that I'll do it all again

Killer
hey man commented before how much I like this tune. Really like the "Turning back to Wideawake" concept. Vox this time are killer - you're best imo - love the bass/mid/high harmonies with three leads, very cool. Reminds me an awful lot of REM. Also has a Toad the Wet Sprocket feel. You've found your solo style too - mid 80's Jesus and Mary Chain - I dig it. Production and mix sounds great too. So, keying off of your comments on the last posting of this tune, were you a pilot in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or on the ground there? Just being nosey.

Nice song
As others have said, REM vocal feel, but nice song, wistful tone to the lyrics.
Fresh and clean
The guitars sound great

Myself, I'd edit the intro announcer thingy somewhat, but that's just me.

Overall really good

Thanks..
... the "radio chatter" was always a risk. It's one of those "artistic" notions that sometimes get the better of me.
I'm very pleased with the vocals on this. I worked hard at them and it paid off.
Glad you enjoyed it.

it definitely has that REM feel as others have mentioned. Also has a 60's type sound to it. Cool song.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's in the south of the UK in an Irish family. I had always loved music but was never given an opportunity to explore making it for myself. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar and began strumming in earnest. To d... [see more]
