Groovy Glidin' (Master by MV9591)

Description
Another piece for the soaring video. This is a composition I rescued from the left for dead folder in my GB. I am sure everyone has one of those folders - mine is called "maybe?". Most of the tunettes that get put in there stay in there (for good reason), but I do get a kick out of listening to them every once in a while, and, every once in a while one of them gives me inspiration. That is what Groovy Glidin' did.

I arranged this song a little differently from some of my other pieces, in that I moved away fromn the traditional verse-chorus type of arrangement - this one is more akin to going in a circle. Additionally, I am still developing my symphony instrument arranging skills, so for those of you who feel you can offer some helpful suggestions for me on how I can improve upon what I am doing, please feel free. Well done symphony instrument parts in my opinion do 2 things: they blend well together, and, they still retain their distinction. I think I am blending the instruments well enough but but feel I am falling short in the distinction department. Please, constructive criticism is encouraged.

Michael (mv9591) continues to impress me with his ability to give my music that extra polish it needs with his mastering skills. Additionally, he has been stellar in his confidence and belief in my music and for that I am truly grateful. Keep up the good work, my friend!

Thank you for stopping by and having a listen - it is very much appreciated!

This is a great example of your talents. Smooth, poignant, understated and ultimately triumphant. Beautiful inspiring guitar work around the four minute mark. If this was in the junk pile I'm dying to hear one of your top picks.

As usual Mike did a stellar job on the mix but, you provided such a great piece to work with that he must have enjoyed every second it took to mix this.

HEY Pizzaman____
The Mix is all Sigmund. I only put the iceing on the cake "mastered it". Sure I tweaked some EQ and compression but Sigmind mixed it. He deserves the credit.

Love the guitar solo
Fabulous electric piano opening. What is the sound/plugin/software? Totally dig it. Excellent mix, balance, arrangement pacing, etc. If there is one weakness, in my ears, it is the melody, which seems too tied to the chord progression. Altho this is what is expected in an easy listening piece or most film scoring, the most excellent guitar solo shows how employing notes outside the triads, so to speak, which makes that section totally come alive, can have a more compelling impact. This track works great as a film score background bed, however. Very well produced. Very enjoyable. Great collaboration.

Thank you
for stopping by to have a listen. I appreciate the critique as well. FYI, the electric piano came right out of GB3 (I think its called whirly electric piano). I did do some tweaking as it comes with a heavy stereo panning tremelo which at first sounds cool (and which is why I originally used it), but gets old quickly. I will give some thought to your comments, as you may be correct in that the melody could be developed a bit more. Thanks again for having a listen - I very much appreciate it!

beautiful
rich textured lush ... the movements are so right, surprising changes... It leads us through episodes that only the wind could instigate... and I love how it lifts... you have used your musical soundscape to descibe to me what it must be like to glide on air.... urgent yet peaceful... seeing way out beyond the horizon

magestic indeed

sorry real life has been kicking my butt...i've had this bookmarked for a week now and am FINALLY getting here. i'm so excited! ok...listening...ok VERY cool percussion. LOVE the hand drums in this. they add such a cool new texture to the piece! great synth work. i love the wobbly organ sound. nice use of vocal samples and strings. this piece has the same great pacing as all of your stuff, although the change ups into the slower parts are nice and work really well. cool stuff, as usual!

Hi Karen
Well I see Shay talked to you. This is all your fault you know. If you weren't so beautifully articulate with your feedback comments, I would not have missed you so much! I think it is very cool that my music will be seeing the country with you. So thank you, for making it by, and for listening, and for your nice words!

nice
rockin, but also the starting out was nice as well. Like how the synth has that gliding feel. Like how it really does it's job to add to the rest of the terrific tune.

I think this is one of best most original pieces i've heard of this style. Like how you don't over do the rock part. To me MORE rock should be done this way. Adding the intense rock in special places like how the airplane glider goes up and down and swings back and forth.

This is a very impressive piece and very inspirational. Again, I think one of the best on this site of this terrific style and maybe other sites.

Way to go.

Love the character of this tune. A great addition to MJ. Glad I stopped by and heard this GEM !

Oh Sigmund!
You really do shine.... radiantly, both as a writer and performer. I just listened to your latest and was led back to this one and as I said on that song comment, I'm truly impressed. Instruments, drums percussion are all so neatly tied into the right place with the right balance....... wonderful, regards M

What I love best
is when it virtually lifts off as if the music had gone airborne. How very exciting the hobby must be. How lucky they were to get you to write for them. Thanks.
