Livin' Lastin' Love

Description
This is my second recording at "The Producer" Mike House's studio. Took me alot longer than the last one to get my tracks down right (sorry Mike) but, I think it was worth the wait. I wrote this song for my wife because she said I never wrote her any songs. This is also from my writing session with Bill Evans in 1999.

Lyrics
I can see it when you look at me oh yeah,
See it in your eyes.
I can feel it when you hold me close oh yeah,
Feel it deep inside.
You walk and talk like you're six foot four oh no,
You're only five foot two.
The way you carry yourself my babe oh yeah,
Gives me my faith in you.

You gotta hold on to your heart,
'Cause I'm comin' for it every way.
I want your totally conventional, Highly unpredictable,
Livin' everlastin' love.

I can hear it when you call my name oh yeah,
You make it sound brand new.
I'd like to shout it from a mountain top oh yeah,
So you can hear it too.
I don't care if you're rich or poor oh no,
Don't mean that much to me.
The simple things in life mean more oh yeah,
Live your life wild and free.

You gotta hold on to your heart,
'Cause I'm comin' for it every way.
I want your always irresistable, Completely unconditional,
Livin' everlastin' love.

You gotta hold on to your heart,
'Cause I'm comin' for it every way.
I want your totally conventional, Highly unpredictable,
Always irresistable, Completely unconditional,
Livin' everlastin' love.

As Usual
Mike did the engineering mixing & mastering. He rushed this one for me so there are tweaks he'd like to make to this. Maybe he'll give me a remixed version to post later.(fingers crossed)

Hey
Great piece of songwriting here. Not as country as a lot of tunes, more on the rock side. Awesome solo. And a GREAT hook.

Very good song my friend.

Good Song
Very well done ppman. Guitars sound good, very strong vocal and the production was also very tight.

Your wife should be very happy with this song. Now for the rest of what you do, that could be a different tune.

Good job!

cool tune - got my toe tapping to this one. You have done a good job of creating the type of tune that one can grow to like quickly. The melody wastes no time reeling you in, and holds on till the end. The chorus is very catchy - cool lyrics. Good guitar solo, and everything neatly arranged. I also happen to like the doubled vocals in the chorus, as opposed to harmonies - just lends itself to the pop rock feel of the tune. I might suggest you consider adding a little extra something in between the lines of your second verse. Perhaps some cool guitar fills or even some rock organ. Another interesting thing to do would be to add a harmony vocal here as well. You could sing a harmony through the entire verse, or add tasteful harmonies here and there. Your work sounds great without those things - I just here them in my head. Anyway, good job to you guys - thanks for sharing your work here with us!

I like the singing,
especially singing alone in the chorus for a bit. Wondering how it can be both both conventional and unpredictable... oh, okay, not at the same time. You want her in every way. Good song. Thanks.

great song & vocals

David, it's good. I wish the lead was a little louder, but maybe not what you wanted for this genre.

Nice package in a C&W song, Kudos

Nice Tune
And whoa - that solo!! Have you thought of laying down a harmony track to put the icing on the cake? It doesn't need it since I think this is full sounding as you recorded it - just curious.

Well done!

Great sounding mix!
Really like the way you start out the chorus with that rest. Great lines in the first verse (walkin' like your 6'4" Oh, no, you're only 5'4") sets the tone for the whole tune. Great to hear real drums; can I borrow Mike for my next one;-). Nice vocal; smooth and well controlled; confident.

Thank you John
I love this lead too. Believe it or not my wife basically told me what to play by hanging out with me while I was working on ideas for the lead break. She'd say that sounds good or What was that or hey do that again. She left the room after about 10 minutes and I started to assemble the riffs in my mind. Before too long I had come up with the lead you hear. It also was guided by a comment that Mike made when I was noodling around with the idea that I was going to play the lead. (Originally hoped to get Mike to do it)(He Rocks!!!!) He said that a lead should lift up a song to another level(paraphrasing). I kept his advice in my mind the whole time I worked on it. Mike's experience has helped me out in more ways than he knows.

Terrific
country type singin ! You have a very good texture in your voice. i don't exactly why, but I go back to Ricky Nelson in this type of singing style. Then the of course the lead is more of a current jam. Nice combination. Again, you really have a very good natural singing voice.

Nice back up music too !

Thanks for sharing !

I love the Ricky Nelson comparison. I grew up on old time rock n' roll. The Everley Bros. Ricky Nelson, and especially Elvis.

Who would you compare the lead to? It reminds me of a fairly contemporary player(He still records) that I wouldn't even list as a guy who influenced my playing at all. His influeces and mine are probably the same though as we're about the same age.

Cool tune Dave
Sounds a bit like Rick Nelson way back in the old days :) That's a compliment by the way.

This seems well recorded - great vocal and guitars. For my taste, the bass is too low in the mix, which is compounded by the drums being so "up" in comparison. I think the panning of the TrapKat kit sounds a little unnaturally spread too wide. The kit sounds good, just the panning makes it clearly an e-kit of some kind. I'm sure that's just a matter of some tweaks in post. Very nice post.

Bass____
Thanks Neil, I shy away from adding to much bass only because Bass can be over powering and mud a mix. I also wanted Dave out front so I did hold back a bit on the mix end. (It's easier to add a bit on the stereo if needed than reduce it) (I am forever working on the mix - never satisfied myself)

The TrapKat - well, It is what it is and it to me is much nicer than say programming drums on my keyboard or using loops. I'm using an Alesis D4 module for the sounds and they arn't exactly the most realistic sounding drums however I have them treaked to my liking. I was going to explore some new samples soon so This is what I needed to actually move on and do that.

Appreciate your opinion and Thanks for listening,

mvh : )

I Agree___

I actually asked Pizzaman Dave not to post it but he just couldn't wait. The mix is "HOT" and it's to late to correct it for this post. Maybe next time. (I realized it was to hot the next day after we recorded it and I will correct that)

Thanks for the comments Kicbal,

Well Done!
Think I got here from a thread about offering lyrical collaboration. Glad I did! Nicely written tune with lyrics that might fit a few genres/melodies. No real criticism or comments other than perhaps dropping the "oh Yeah's" and "Oh No's, etc. at the end of verse lines. Leave a little space. Space is our Friend! Especially in countryish music. Perhaps even replace the verbal punctuation with something musical...

Really enjoyed, THANKS!
