Description
Kenta and I have been talking about working together for some time and this deliciously dark track was ripe for vocals. The original track was called "Open Sky" (http://www.macjams.com/song/48215), which I have changed for lyrical purposes. We hope you enjoy it.

Vocals & Lyrics: Daniel (Luna Trick)
Music: Kenta (Skean)

Lyrics
Broken Sky (by Luna Trick)

Broken Sky
Broken Sky
Broken Sky
Broken Sky

From the belly of a viking ship
On the hiss of a candle wick
On the stones of a tumble-down church
On the torches of a hopeless search
In the cackle of a demon choir
In the angle of a broken spire
In the foot falls of a zombie walk
In the circles made with Dover chalk

I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky
I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky

Where the sapling comes through the mud
Where the cows chew their last cud
Where the Oak folds its arms in disgust
Where the mountain stream turns back in mistrust
From a mother's terminal dream
From the places we have never seen
From the spite in the icy wind
From the cry of an angry twin
In the stains on a peasant hand
In the ghosts trapped on stolen land

I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky
I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky
I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky

All the tears in a farmer's eyes
All the rage in baby cries
All the bile in a witches curse
All the grasps on a widow's purse
In the melee for the final train
In the sadness of the last refrain
In the memories of haunted men
In the shudders of a dying hen

I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky
I feel the pain of a broken sky
I taste the rain of a broken sky

When I feel you slip away
When I feel the close of day
When I yield to the brutal touch
When I know I've said to much

Broken sky
Broken sky
Broken sky
Broken sky

I can't keep up with you!
When do you find time to eat :-)

Excellent work again. Very evocative lyrics. Strong imagery and the music is suitably dark.

Cheers

I didn´t
know the original but this is great!
How can one keep up to date with your stream of sounds?
You just flood the site with great stuff.
Your gothic music has a real good quality: It never sounds too forced, the darkness and drama are always in the right amount so it never becomes "cartoon goth" that it happens with a lot of "gothic" artists.
Killer track

I agree fully...
"Cartoon goth" is exactly right... so kitch... and I just want to avoid it. I really love the first wave in the 80s and they are a bigger inspiration. Love to chat influences with you sometime...

Very, very
creative use of Kenta's great original mix. Where do all your lyrics come from. Do you have a magic lyric book that just falls open at the right page every ten minutes?
Cheers

To be honest Len...
I also aspire to be a writer... but my book-length projects aren't as far along as I wish them to be - partly cos I wear myself out writing lyrics!

Here's another...
...great track. I'm not sure what the lyrics mean, but they sure seem to fit the dark nature of this piece. The "production values" here are pretty awesome with all the echos and the distance of the percussion and the the general wash of sound. But I am most appreciative of being able to understand the lyrics without the libretto in front of me. An intelligent mix of all elements. (I've grown to expect this from you.).. Ditto with Dick. You are churning these out like crazy.
Hey: Write while the music calls.
Peace.

Some say I post too much... and for macjams, perhaps I do. On iComps, some folks post 3 or 4 a day - so I get less flak there. There will be lulls - but for the moment, I am in a rhythm with my music work. For many years, I squandered my abilities... so I'm making the most of this new opportunity on these sites. I know you can relate! Lyrics wise - this is a piece on pagan universality - the ephemeral moment, etc. - the processing of pain into meaning and vise versa. Or, it works as a visual, surreal stimulus. Either way....

your unique vocal style fits so perfectly into this song, as well as this type of music. the music itself is dreamy and darkly sophisticated. this is an excellent collaborative effort. thank you for sharing your work.

Nice collab you two ....

This is great, love this sound. Strangely, it remind me of later Blue Oyster Cult stuff. The way you split the vocal really works for me. Fantastic beats Kenta it carries the whole song. I was expecting some of The Tricks guitar work, but as it is it all works fine. Apt words, fine piece of work chaps, you should make another.

You guys are amazing!
How you keep turning out creative quality is beyond me. Inspiration is one thing, but in my world there are only 24 hours.... :o)

Nice work here - the vocal seems very very close - like you can't or don't want to escape their message as they come at you
through this dark environment. High production standards!!

Thanks guys,

Doug

Let's hear it for the dark side
Ah, two of my dearest MacJams friends on one song, excellent. The harmonies are really nice, and as others have said, very fine lyrics. And it doesn't sound like a bolt-on song stuck onto an instrumental ... it blends and merges as it should. Daniel you have a delicious voice, and Kenta you're a master of the emotionally charged synth.

You know when I did this sound bed as a collab I heard a voice in it so I'm so glad I get one of my fave singer/friend to do this, to lift the song and give it the thing it needed.
He is a great musician or dear friend with many sides a man I'm very impressed of.
I'm just happy I get a chance to work with him again.
