I wonder...
...if TIME always has to end with US just passing away. I'm recalling a little poem that ends with the line."...for those who love, time is not!" ... My first thought about this number is its very sad, somber nature --lyrics and music. There's a kind of existential hopelessness about it that you paint beautifully in sound, dark as it all is. The swirling orchestration is the perfect complement to your theme (endless flow) and you are true to it throughout. Wonderful collaboration. Do you guys talk about the "theme" or do you work totally independently? I'm curious.

Ah yes...
Henry Van Dyke I believe... one of many poignant vignettes on the subject... many of which lapse into existential hopelessness as you put it. On that point, the words "endless flow" point towards something beyond our temporal existence... that time lets us off at interims. Dave left the lyrics to me... but he is sensitive to the fact that lyrics must be strong enough to match the music... and gave me his approval. I should say that it was his music that drew my particular take on the subject...
