Description
One night I walked out onto my back porch here in the Dallas area. I can remember the nights as a boy under the West Texas sky where the horizon was nearly 360 degrees and the stars ablaze and many constellations visible. Then as well as now I was feeling a strong presence of the Lord in my life. The words blurted out into my little postage stamp of a backyard...' I've not seen the stars since I don't know when.' My love for Celtic music and all things Irish, a melody flooded my heart and I sat down with God and wrote this song.
There are references to ideas in the Bible that also worked into the song. The Star, of course, announcing the birth of The Messiah. Following and trusting and His provision of a new life and a new way to look at eternity. Without turning this into a Bible Study, other references include, John 1:9, Revelation 3:20 and Psalm 8:3.
I want to thank Roxylee and my wife for this collaboration. After hearing and seeing Roxanne's level of unapologetic faith I felt compelled to approach her on adding in her vocal talent. My wife, Maureen wrote a great deal of this song as to it's rhythm and timing thru the acoustic guitar. I played mando, sang lead and played the recorder.
I went back and forth on the naming of the song. Should I name it Star of Bethlehem or Light of Bethlehem? I finally settled on "Light" because one could debate astronomically upon scientific calculations of an actual star. Either way, I know it takes faith but I feel that it's true...
Seek peace and pursue it.

Lyrics
Light of Bethlehem ©
words and music by Andy Wigzell
I’ve not seen the stars since I don’t know when,
But I still sense the light of Bethlehem.
It’s Jesus I’am talkin’ about It’s Jesus you know.
If you’re followin’ Him You’ll know where to go – Oh…
You’ll know where to go.
You’ll know how to live and you’ll know how to die.
You’ll know how to give and you’ll know how to cry.
You’ll see life a way you’ve never before.
You’ll know when He knocks, you’ll open the door- Oh…
You’ll open the door.
I’ve seen His great love and His word thru the years
And seen His wise answers of many a prayers.
Seen lives that have changed and many have healed
And the promise of God that no man can steal- No
That no man can steal.
I’ve often wondered what life it would be
Had there not been a cross up on Calvary
I know it takes Faith but I feel that it’s true
That Jesus the Lord died for me and for you-
That Jesus the Lord died for me and for you.
When I consider the works of His hands.
The moon and the stars – His oceans His lands
I feel a bit small but I know I’am His own.
When you go with the Lord ya ne’er go it alone- NO….
Ne’er go it alone.
