Description
another old recording which was written and recorded in May 2007 - I used some vintage instruments on this including the Wurlitzer w-200 electric piano. this has always been my favourite instrument, particularly for live stuff though this one hasn't been gigged for nearly twenty years now, - it doesn't like travelling much, just like me.

I suppose this is a kind of warning song about the world reaching boiling point like it did in 1939 -I remember reading that many accused Churchill of being a warmonger just because he had the audacity to express his fears about Hitler.

Lyrics
Some People – written May 2007

Some people don’t know what they’re doing,
Some people don’t know where they’re going
They never understand – strange but it’s true.

There’s good there’s bad there’s in between,
You’ll find the dirty and the clean
But in between the lines, it’s plain to see.

The world is spinning much too fast –
They say it’s never going to last –
The light gets dimmer every day –

Some people think they have it all,
They’ll find there’s pride before a fall –
Religion turns it’s wheel and moves us on.

-------- E piano break ----

The world is spinning much too fast –
They say it’s never going to last –
The light gets dimmer every day –

Some people save to spend a dime-
Some people never have the time,
Their ground is spinning ‘round it never stops

There’s good there’s bad there’s in between,
You’ll find the dirty and the clean
But in between the lines, it’s plain to see.

The world is spinning much too fast –
They say it’s never going to last –
The light gets dimmer every day –

A big time
60's kind of atmosphere in this,I like it, I like it. I also agree on the "boiling point" aspect, and your lyrics hit that nail right on the head. Electric piano and everything else is kick. Thanks for the DL great tune.
Be well, Russ

This moves
at a rate of knots doesn't it? I'm glad I don't have to dance to it LOL. It sounds great with good lyrics too, though it does sound much earlier than 2007..... has a 60's early seventies feel I think, but so do most of my songs, cheers M

thanks for the comment.
most of my songs sound old I'm afraid, I have a few vintage tracks by groups like The Band such as - Rag mama rag - and use these as a guide to line up my own recordings. I love the warm sound of these old records, I can't remember when I last bought a current record.

Very nice
Love the backing vocals, and the piano sounds great. Smart, well thought out lyrics, and an interesting sentiment. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

this was a bit ambitious, vocally
certainly on the lead part I was at my limit rangewise and at one point dropped the key a semitone to G but it didn't work.

Thank you for your comments and yes - peace.

I can tell
that this was about the same time as the last one. Wonderful beatlesque harmonies again. Another lovely and very well written song John.

Hi Len -
Thanks very much for listening - it seems this song has always been with me but when I looked it up I was surprised to find it was less than two years old. The harmonies were a pain to do but turned out not too bad in the end.

...
really like the almost twee electric piano riff and drumming - makes for a cool contrast with the serious lyrics and the Beatlesesque 60's vocals and harmonies. Just a good solid tune with smart lyrics and a great pop sensibility.
