Description
This is an old song of mine, recorded back in October 2006. It was posted up here once before on my previous profile. Due to the technical limitations of it, both musically and production oriented, I had intended not to post it again. However, a person for whom this song is very special has asked me to put it up again so I'm honouring that request.
Recorded on Garageband, using a horrible iMic USB interface, my acoustic-electric plugged directly into it, this has lots of hum, and lots of poor playing. That said I've always had a soft spot for it as it was my first attempt to write some lyrics outside of the usual love/loss genre.
Another indication of how early in my recording career this is, is the use of strings and piano. I don't really bother with keyboards anymore as I rarely manage to get them to sound right. There are no drums either stemming primarily from my lack timing control at the time - I could never play in time to the drum lops I wanted to use!
So there you have it, a curio, call it a "lost recording" if you like.
I'm sure someone will enjoy it!

Lyrics
She catches her man in her scope
For him there is no hope
In the desert late at night
Camel spiders are starting to bite
She never questions her role
She never questions anything at all
To her lover on a satellite phone
A million miles away safe at home
I saw her on my TV screen...
I saw her on the Six O'Clock News
She looked so pretty in her fatigues
She's standing in the empty street
I worry about her, but I don't know her
She must have a mom and dad
She must have brothers and sisters
The army girl is far away
From all she holds dear
I saw her on my TV screen...
She never questions her role
She never questions anything at all
In the desert late at night
She dreams of home and her mom's apple pie
I saw her on my TV screen
She looked like an angel, carrying a gun
I wonder why they sent her, to kill a man
Who looks like the guy who works in the corner store
I saw her on my TV screen...
She never questions her role
She never questions, 'til she gets home
For him there is no hope
In the desert late at night
Camel spiders are starting to bite
She never questions her role
She never questions anything at all
