Description
This is pretty typical for me. Set out with a sound in mind and the song just decides to do what it wants. Hope you enjoy.

Lyrics
I don’t need another woman and you don’t need another man
I don’t have to live forever, if that ain’t part of the plan
You might find that I’m a restless kind of guy
But I’ll be there when you make your stand

I don’t need another woman if you just make me your man.

I don’t need to wait a lifetime when we’re standing toe to toe
I don’t have to search forever just as long as you don’t go
So why not rest a while and turn off that store bought smile
I’ll try to make you understand

I don’t need another woman if you just make me your man

May the comfort of a sunrise wake up to you and me
& when the nighttime closes in on you I’ll be the air you need to breath
& if it all comes crashing down on us we’ll treat it like a dream
Cuz’ we’ll be together, we’ll be together

And I won’t need another woman, cuz’ you’ve just made me your man

I won’t make up fancy stories and I won’t fabricate no lies
There won’t have to be no hard sell sunshine, cuz’ I can see it in your eyes
When I hold you at last, we’ll let the past be the past
I let go of everything I can

I won’t need another woman if you just make me your man

You might find that I’m a restless kind of guy
But I’ll be there when you make your stand
I won’t need another woman if you just make me your man

So why not rest a while and turn off that store bought smile
I’ll try to make you understand

wherever the muse leads you Dave. Sounds great to me. Stellar job all the way around. Backing vocals are killer. There's an effect on them but its subtle and very nicely produced.

Thanks!
Thanks ktb,
I've heard some of your stuff so this is high praise indeed! You're the real deal.
It really funny where music takes you sometimes. It makes it kind of hard for me to take credit for it. Things just kind of go where they want to.
I'd like to think I'm very purposeful when I write but it's just more random than that!
Thanks again,
Dave

Tasty
Really nicely written tune, great lead and harmony vocals. Really nice chord and melody ideas. Cool arrangement. Lots of good musicianship on display here!

One songwriting nit: I really like the bridge but it felt like it should go right to the break after 'we'll be together'' without going back to the "don't need another woman" chorus reference. Also, ending feels like it stops instead of ending.

Yep!
Thanks for the comments John. I'd have to agree with the bridge thing. Feels kind of forced or something. In addition, the ending is a result of my getting tired of trying to massage a couple loops together. Just got bored with it and took the easy way out. (ahh, my lazy nature always manages to make itself known)

Hey Dave
Great work here.. I'm loving the mix between electric and acoustic guitars. I'm liking the syncopated beat too! Great vocals working too. Nice work Dave!

another woman
there is a lot to like about this tune. it has all the elements for a great pop song. this piece is well arranged, well mixed, well played, and has a nice catchy hook. The ending kinda just happens to my ears on this. perhaps adjusting your rhythm to kind of segue into the ending bit more - or perhaps drop everything but the acoustic guitar and vocal on that last line. but in no way does it detract from the nice work you have done. I enjoyed listening - thank you for sharing your work.

Hey Sigmund!
You're right about the end. Johnwhitehead said virtually the same thing. I had simply exhausted myself on the thing and was eager to be done. In retrospect, maybe I should have just walked away from it for a week or two and come back for a final tweak.
I've got the attention span of a tse-tse fly! I'm surprised it got as far as it did!
Regardless, thanks a bunch.

Hey bud
Thanks for the welcome and comment. By the way, are you bud of "Detroit" fame? That was simply funky fun. Loved it. Can't find too many peers that like to groove that way.
Peace

Woah!
Abrupt ending!

Another one that is very well produced! I do think the acoustic guitar or maybe the bass was just on the edge of distortion a few times. A little too hot perhaps?

Great lyrics and great voice. Not a fan of the effect you're using on your vox though. Too flangy for me. You have a great singing voice that doesn't need gimmicky effects in my opinion.
rsolorio said 250 days ago (March 16th, 2009)
Bowie-esque vocals
Real nice song and arrangement. Great vocal work, very intimate.

One production nit. I think the drums sound scared. Except for the breaks they are pretty far back in the mix. To my ears anyway.

Thanks for joining us. Welcome.
