I rated the production high, but not sure on the
harmonies. Seems a bit grating, but that may have been
the intent.

You sang this really well. In fact, I'd like to hear the lead
vocals taking more of a center stage. Sometimes they
sound lost behind the harmonies, or the instruments. You
did a really good performance, don't hide it! Very Mama's
and the Papa's/60's feel to it.

...at your M&P/EKAT reference! LOL! Very nice flow to this.

Has almost a Dream Academy/Beatles/Tears For Fears
flavour to it. The mix is very constant. I might have liked
to hear an interlude... perhaps key change or chord
progression outside the framework. Although, you lean
towards this with the "di di di" part (but not enough). And
I miss a centered lead vocal. I do like the slight track echo
on the vox at times. Vocals are excellently performed and
have a great fullness to them.

I think this is very well constructed as a work evocative of a particular genre. Now, I don't know from "Electric Coolade Acid Test," but Cream, The Byrds, etc... you bet!

In general the harmonies work very well. There were a few places where a voice was a bit far off key or stuck out a bit due to the singer's tonality (just before "the breeze outside my door..."). The intruments are solid. I think Alimar might be on to something when he suggests the song structure would only benefit from a more prominant hook.

You did a great job balancing the vocals and even (I think) finding a mix that reflects the sound and production style of the era. I'd kinda like to hear more of the echo on the backing vocals, only because I think it would make the mix seem more vintage, like how it might have been produced in that era.

Really fun and well produced track!

thanks, man. i've been trying to sift through all the comments... the main
challenge i've got right now is my collaborator on this one is a PC user (FIE on
them! Fie, i say!). I've been trying to bring him back to the mac, but to no
avail thusfar. Anyone play with the free version of Traktion yet? i know that's
pc as well as mac, but deals with .wav file (ick!).

he wrote the music on this one. i was the lyricist. now we gotta figure out
what to do about that hook. we wanted to get a lead guitar track in on this
number, but we ran out of time (we live in different cities). but he's very
encouraged to write and record much more now that he's seen how dang easy
GB is. thanks for the comments!

The Beatles-esque melodrama, humor and harmonies are
wonderful. Just enough harmonic surprises, and the
humor is balanced well with the obvious care put into the
arrangement. The whole track sounds a bit
overcompressed or rerecorded too many times or
something, maybe its the mp3 compression, making it a
tad distant and metallic, which is too bad since this is a
top notch arrangement. I really like it.

Thanks for the comment! I admire many of your GB arrangements here, too.
I'm still a novice engineer--the problem with most computer recording
equipment is that it expects a musician to become a recording engineer... at
least GB is the easiest of them all to use and abuse. My friend still wants to
remaster this track, so I might repost with people's suggestions.

Nice chord progressions and arrangement in general. The
vocals do need to be tightened, better in synch, closer
harmonies perhaps, more emphasis on the lead.

A short contrasting section to offer some "relief" and
create more interest would indeed be good.

Very nice "feel" to this piece, though and I enjoyed
listening.

Nice interwoven polyphonic vocal arrangement. M&P is
apt, as are Spanky & Our Gang, and several other late 60's
groups that were re-discovering counterpoint in their
vocal arrangement. Would have liked to hear a bit more
dry signal on the lead vox and got it more out front.

This song is really flowy, which I like about it. I don't really agree that the vocals get lost in any part of the song, but maybe you could do a remix of this song, with a guiarist. That might be a good idea!

Yeah, Mamas and Papas' sound is all over the song, which is a good thing.
The harmonies are great, and I agree that it needs a little refining
although it stands out ok as it is. You must have had great fun recording
this song. Sounds quite nostalgic of the 60's.

How did I arrive at this song? i clicked on a random picker and it was
smart enough to direct me to a song that brought a smile to my face...
