Description

This is a slightly revised version of "Shiloh".
I don't usually submit revisions but that's really why we're here to fix things that needed fixin.
Thank's for the first listen and if you go to battle one more time with me thanks again.

The Battle of Shiloh, was a major battle in the Western Theater of the American Civil War, fought on April 6 and April 7, 1862, in southwestern Tennessee. Confederate forces under Generals Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard launched a surprise attack against the Union Army of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. The Confederates achieved some initial success on the first day but were ultimately defeated on the second day.

Toward a certain doom
This builds a wonderful sense of anticipation. It's like a slow march toward the inevitable, with lots of interest as the instrumental lines weave around each other and let the sense of what is to come unfold as tonal colours for the listener. The use of the occasional sprinkle of dissonance lets us know that all is not well in this march - maybe not everyone is quite looking forward to what is about to transpire. The ending and the way it quickly comes to silence reminds me of how quickly a life is lost in war - and there were many in this encounter.

This is nice mix too Charlie - clean and crisp with nice lateral placement of your orchestra around the soundstage.

Did I mention I'm downloading this one?
