Lyrics
tick tock

forty-eight hours each week
to try and create some beauty in my world
the rest is spent helping others achieve dreams
so i guard my hours like a shiny pot of gold

i'm stuck between a hard place and a rock
the most prominent thing is that damn ticking clock
by sunday afternoon all i hear is "tick tock"
how many more minutes have i got?
tick tock, how many more minutes have i got?

everyone says i need to find that someone
to share my life and precious hours with
but i' don't know many couples truly happy
so i trudge along with my songs that ask "what if?"

i'm stuck between a hard place and a rock
the most prominent thing that damn ticking clock
by sunday afternoon all i hear is "tick tock"
how many more chances have i got?
tick tock, how many more chances have i got?

BRIDGE

each morning when i swim myself awake
i understand another has gone by
my clock is ticking faster with every passing day
hell yeah, they seem to fly

i'm stuck between a hard place and a rock
the most prominent thing this damn ticking clock
by sunday afternoon all i hear is "tick tock"
how much more time have i got?
tick tock, how much more time have i got?

In answer to your question-
Yes. This is a real contemplative piece of music. The lyrics caught me right away. The production is great, and your voice is really top-notch. Your songs seem to be semi-autobiographical in general, and the feelings really flow through this song, as they do through much of your other material.

poignant despair
very nicely crafted song... lyrics walk the delicate line between rigid meter and stream of consciousness (the latter gives them more intimate immediacy), and the claustrophobic piano is gorgeous in the background there, so many little touches that make this really stand out as a haunting piece, but mostly your voice is beautifully strong/fragile here. I do sincerely hope that someday soon you no longer have to ask "what if?" We are out there :) Anyway, excellent music & singing, as always.

Long time
I feel your pain. I get the same tick tock on Sunday afternoon...Stacey it has been too long. This is a really strong effort! The smooth sumptuous pads in this song really carry the silky mood perfectly. The lyric delivery as at once a bit staccato and also slippery. Production values are top notch. The harmonies are really haunting. Good to see you back and posting.

I like it
Great chorus - rock/clock/tock/got - lyric -
Lovely voice as always, and love the harmonies -
Generally I like the production - you get some lovely low notes out of the synths and it sounds like your using Logic rather than GB - so credit there on a solid production. One minor gripe is the acoustic guitar - which sounds a little thin - maybe go back and EQ that? But it's a minor quibble on what is a great effort!

I totally get it...
...and feel it...

Great lyric, and a nicely done job of balancing the form with the skipping-away-from-form in the way you deliver the lyrics... The singing's great...again...

And I think your production grows by leaps and bounds every time I hear a new song... This sounds full, lush and complete... I'll have to listen later over headphones as regards Phil's comments about the acoustic, but even if it can stand a tweak, it's still way more polished than your original efforts, and I thought those were still excellent...

Most significantly, you don't have to apologize to ANYONE as a songwriter, and if one is going to have a strength, that, to me, is the one to have... Follow that up with a great voice.... and steadily stronger production values... And really, now it's down to waiting for your CD....

Ed

Beyond talented; soulful
What do star-struck fans say when they meet their idol? "Gawrsh, Ms. Stacy, you're my biggest fan!" and things like that. I respect and appreciate the talent of many fine musicians but what you evoke takes me into adoration territory. I'm no puppy but this old dawg loves what you're up to.

Thank you for the download.
