Return of the Ancient Armada

Description
Picture the creation and opening of a massive wormhole. Countless armed frigates and capital ships reveal themselves to an unsuspecting peaceful planet. Their defences are useless against the oncoming onslaught, leaving a civilization in a brief panic before degrading it to ruins. The armada vanishes almost as quickly as they came.

You are into
a "Let's go destroy a planet" mode. I can't help but imagine these destroyers as evil, except for their really great taste in music. I liked it. Does that make me evil, too? Thanks.

Armada
You think you could send that poor unsuspecting planet this track as a warning of the destruction and chaos to come? Ehhhh, I dono - I'm thinking no amount of provisions could prepare and protect them from this fleet...sounds pretty evil and sneaky!

It is a beautiful song P, very fluidic. You are quite the storyteller. Lovin' it!

Return
some interesting combos in here jay - it all feels just a bit off balance, which i suspect is exactly what you were going for. well done!

i love it, you got it exactly right. I always try to incorporate the situation when i do a track like this. The drums are balanced, but the lingering ambience is off balance and unpredictable...Just like the struggle i was trying to convey... Thanks!

Hum...
Didn't sound sinister enough for me. When I think of an armada I think of the Star Wars music as the imperial destroyers approach.

This was good but just not sinister enough sounding in my opinion.

i was worried about that comparison especially when writing the description, but its like comparing Apples to oranges. this isnt suppose to fall into that realm or universe. I wasnt trying to capture a star wars feeling. Try to think of a universe that has yet to unfold. There is evil and deepness to the track, just not to the extent of star wars. ( partially because i steered from orchestral which usually paints the epic over the top scenarios ) but I think it paints the picture well considering the nature of the soundbed. Thanks for the honesty and your opinion though Mark.

Too much B-5 watching, perhaps?
I think you could have gotten more evil/sinister sounds, possibly by going the "Industrial" route, more gritty intense beats and build-up, maybe? I like this track and the sounds you have, but it doesn't really match up with the description for me, I don't hear the peaceful planet, or the panic, or even the immense fleet. But on the other hand, I do hear a cool soundtrack for a solo lost warrior sneaking through an unfamiliar nebula in space... this has a more mysterious/curious/consistent feel to my ears. And I like it. There ya go, my honest opinion, as always :-)

thanks for the honesty eduard, I see where you and mark are coming from. Im not a fan of industrial beats, its too abrupt ( even though the concept of the track is of an abrupt nature ) I wanted to keep the beat in prototype form...hip hopish. I do agree the melody and sounds dont quite equate to a MASSIVE FLEET and more of a stealth bomb run, or something. Thanks for the honesty, I might take yours and Marks opinions and work on a different version. industrial/orchestral included.
Thanks

I like
This is a cool departure from some of your other stuff, but it still has what to me is your signature drum programing. Sounds great with the earbuds, nice spacial mixing. Nicely done.

a good analogy would be:

think of it as doing a test with blanks as opposed to doing a test with multiple choice. It takes more brain power and energy to create something from scratch. To make every single component work together and blend is a challege, as opposed to lining up blocks of sounds that are prearranged and created by sound studio professionals.

I love the thrill of creating my own sound beds and the feeling of satisfaction knowing I composed and created every aspect of sound found within.

i have nothing against loopers, but there is a huge difference. I have a more developed respect for someone who composes/keys/sequences/plays live. I just like the challenge, ive used loops and just dont get any kick out of it. Its like piecing together a puzzle, the pieces are there now arrange them. I like creating the pieces.

Sweet
I'll have to see some recent SF movies to see what they do in the beat department: I'm wondering if your beats are a bit too emphatic. However, you're getting some fine synth sounds here. Much enjoyed.

thanks for checking it out vic, i love the synths and the vibe in this. i probally should have went the route drak was talking about regarding the beat, and i thought about it, ( industrial beat ), but i love the hip hop kinda style so I wanted to keep it in the prototype style.
