Description

Call this one Dark Ambient with a twist.

It's about the universal search for peace. The reluctant Om. The Nirvana at the End of Time. The Blip to Fall Into.

As seems to be more frequent with my mixes, this has three sections, a hectic space ambient beginning, as though one is on a journey, as indeed we all are, and then you have the toke section where you suddenly have time to get out that pipe and the ounce of resin, and have yourself a cool, calm blast whilst searching for the special Om factor. The last section is an anticlimactic end, with Gabriel (or Miles) playing us out, into the Cosmic Nirvana.

Hi WR......
This is one of those mixes that got away from me and through putting together, in a few days, an Ambient album, for release next month, I've become confused with what I'm doing and with which mix I'm doing it with!! I should remove this under normal circumstances but I appreciate comments, even when the mix is disjointed. It all helps to get my head straight.

Thanks for being gentle......It's a far from polished mix.

Hi.....
It's good to hear someone who knows their music, expressing an opinion. You hit the nail on the head with the 'sounds like a Sci-Fi film track'.

I've listened to the track a couple of times since I uploaded this, and the hiccups don't seem too bad. I don't like the production much but that is all. If you don't hear a melody then there isn't one.

On reflection I shouldn't have uploaded this but hey ho, I make more mistakes than most and your comments along with others is what we're all here for, good or not so good.

I'd love to know what sort of ambient you expected as this is a genre with a very fluid edge, in my opinion.

Contrary Perspective
These kind of sharp turns in the music to me just reflect the kind of experiences we have in everyday life. Yes most music isn't crafted this way but then I would argue that you have captured a take on reality that most never put in such stark relief. Sometimes the search is dark, sometimes spacious, sometimes silly. You have always provided an immersive experience in your music and this is another example. Thanks for deciding to post Paul - a good artistic choice!

Hi Doug.....
I always try to do something that has a deeper effect than normal, run of the mill music. This piece seemed, in my latest productive time, to fit what I wanted to depict in a soundscape, no more, no less. It had, to me, the 'nutshell effect'.

My music is about stretching or jumping over barriers or the norm.

I'm happy that one or two people found something in this that they thought was reasonable.

Your concise view of my music gives me a different but very welcome perspective on what I try to do.
