Description
This is a song I wrote in 1982 in honor of one of my favorite musicians. Since he died last year I thought I'd bring it out, dust it off and let the MacJammers have a go with it.
I recorded this song on a four track Fostex cassette recorder (always had problems with it). I used my trusty Gibson SG and Fender Jazz Bass for the guitars. The second part of the lead was done in one take, and that never happens, except for this one time.
I then ran it through a MOTU Ultralight in Garage Band from a Tascam 424mkIII, retiring the aforementioned Fostex. On Garage Band I did a little hocus-pocus to try and remove some tape hiss and I added a second drum track and a little piano.
I know the recording is not the best, but I hope you like it any way.

Lyrics
The Bo Diddley Shakes
Every time I see your face, I get the Bo Diddley Shakes
Palms get sweaty, knees get weak
Can’t seem to find words to speak.
Every time I kiss your face, I get the Bo Diddley Shakes
Temperature rises I go out of control
Can’t seem to find my rock and roll.
Every time I see you I just wanna cry.
Every time I see you I just wanna die, hey, hey
What I feel I can’t equate, to anything else, but the Diddley Shakes
Moon comes up, sun goes down
People get happy make a crazy town.
It only takes the motion of a black man’s hand, to get everybody movin’ cross this land
They remember his color they forget his name
The only time we’re different’s when we feel the same.
Every time I see you I just wanna cry.
Every time I see you I just wanna die, hey, hey
I use his rhythm and I use my speech, to keep my distance and to stay in reach
I haven’t been drinking and I’m not insane
The only time we’re different’s when we feel the same
Every time I see you I just wanna cry.
Every time I see you I just wanna die, hey, hey
