I love the beginning

This is wonderful Richard. Very well played and orchestrated, with a dark mood turning to the light. Kudos for this my friend it is a very beautiful, if short, piece of music.

thank you - it makes a change to have a violin sound that sounds a bit more like a violin! Hoping to get better at the orchestration side of things

I didn't know you had this classical side-
but I'm glad you're showing it here. I love how the chord changes melt into each other. It's very uplifting, and has what I guess I'd call a 'noble spirit'.

Nicely cascading chords....
...each bit washing into the next and sort of unfolding as it goes.... I'd say it creates a nice mood, but it creates a mood that moves, that starts in one spot and gets to another...

big
hey Richard,
Beautiful piece of music my friend. It has found a home on my overflowing archive of paddler songs on my iPod. I realized the other day that I have downloaded more songs by you than any other MJ-er on the site. I can do a whole 50 minutes run on nothing but R-Pad tunes! Well done and keep it comin'. Glad you've found a home Sir Busker. -P

This really
captures the spirit of the North Rich, not that I've ever been there, but I would know it was of the North. A hint of the brass band. Very beautiful. So... where are you going? Hope you like it there.
Cheers

Nicely done!
Sounds like you've been listening to Magnatone :)

I worked in Stockport for a year, and the sounds you've put together remind me of some of the glorious countryside we saw on our weekend trips into the countryside. I love the North - my Dad was a Geordie, and it must be in my blood.

Very nicely done.

Really wonderful Richard
What did Edirol have to do with this - they make a lot of different things - what were you using and how? Very evocative and emotional piece - I think Krysti Jo said it well with "noble spirit".

Oh my...
... in among all this powerpop, grunge and indie "Spirit of a Northern Town" is a breath of something different. It kinda puts me in mind of the intros on those classic 80's films by the likes of Ken Loach. My only criticism is there isn't enough of it - I'd love to hear more of this! Beautiful.

hmmm
well last time i was in a proper northern town, i got called a "guardian reading lefty" by the hotel owner where i was staying, after i complained about his night porter punching my friend in the head.... But i dont think that was quite the spirit of a northern town you were talking about!

nicely done. definitely seeing the rolling hills in this.

Very nice, relaxing and yet intense. The orchestration sounds really good to me. By the way, my late mom was from Sydney, Nova Scotia so Canada is dear to my heart.

Loved the picture
of Blackpool and I loved the track. All that is missing is a pint of bitter and some fish and chips and maybe a tiny bit of choral work.
