Lyrics
here i come now
heading west to see you
only hours to wait now
no more things to see through

i cant sit here one more day
see im coming home, coming home
coming home today

chase the sun
chase the sun

all those obstacles
that seemed to fall before me
theyre all miles away now
back beyond that blue sea

theres no way i couldnt see
see whats coming on, coming on
coming on before me

chase the sun
chase the sun

i can feel me, coming down
coming down
coming down from the clouds

chase the sun
chase the sun
chase the sun
chase the sun

Hot in spots
but a great rocker, Love it. The bass lead is sharp and penetrating. Damn great track. Can't think of anything else to say except it's a keeper. It's in the pod. Thanks!

Excellent energy and writing
I like the leading bass and the drums do sound really good. Are they loops? Where from? Strong vocals and guitar work too.

Hi
bud. thanks for the appreciation :-)

i try not to use loops if i can help it, so everythings me, except the drums. They started out as an apple midi loop (southern rock drums 04) and then had a fair amount of pencil work done to them! i was pretty pleased with the end result, its the 1st time ive managed to really get some energy going in the drums.

You are a rocker!
Love the energy. The production is pretty good overall, IMHO. A few rough patches, but makes it more authentic to my ears.

Rock on, man!

Wow,
a two month stay was a good chunk of time. It sounds as if you could be comfortable in the States. I can imagine the disorientation after going back.
It sounds like a great rock song. If you get a chance, I sure would like to see the lyrics. I miss stuff, otherwise. Well done. Thank you.

Great post!
Like the lead bass, although it sounds to me like a "proper" bass line wouldn't hurt as well. You definitely got some drive out of the drums with the pencil. The kick seems to be clipping rather badly, most noticeably at the start. Vocals are interesting - I like the way you used panning to good effect.
Production wise, I think its definitely sounding "overcooked" a lot of the time - might be worth sitting down with it and remixing so you get a clearer sound.
Cool song and story.
Cheers,
Neil

Neil, ive been hoping you might comment on a song of mine at some point, ive seen some other comment youve left around the place, and you always seem to have something constructive to say. I hadnt noticed the clipping on the kick at all, so i shall have to go and have a look at that.

thanks :-) im glad you liked it though.

Your Oakland's not so far from the Seattle (sound):
Here's one I can see going for 15 minutes live in a dark room with lots of smoke and colored lights. (Maybe that's just my history creeping up on me.) This has a kind of 90s Seattle-era feel to it. (A good thing IMHO). Whatever hot-level issues you might want to deal with, the arrangement seems pretty clean, seems like you've left some useful air between the tracks/waves. Good to hear ya.

the drums sound much more realistic on this track. That is a killer chorus! It is a little hot on some levels in spots but that's OK. The effects on the vocals sound really cool.

Nice work Anom! Driving beats, really terrific vocals - yes, maybe it's a bit "hot" in places, but what do I know in this genre (nada). To my ears, a very enjoyable listen, in a cool and intense way! Glad to have you aboard!

long distance elationship
oh man, that's a chorus! the drums are ludicrous, some amazing rolls and they all sound really natural, a damn lot of velocity tinkering I bet. Vocals are good and clear again, the same mic you used to rerecord crown of thorns?
Overall, it needs another mix and I'm not sure the drum pattern in the verses really fits but this is a really cool track that obviously took a lot of work.
ps. damn, those drums are busy!

ludicrous!
well thats what i wanted! i was definitely going for some keith moon feeling drums on this. Its possible i did over look the verse drums a little, what with all the pencil tinkering for the chorus, but hey ho, it'll give me something to play with if i get round to remastering it.

Oh man...
...this is cool, got an Alice in Chains at their finest kinda feel. That bass at at the start really sets up the flavour and the doubled vocal is really well pinned into the song. The drum work feels authentic and the overall vibe is great. Yeah, a keeper for the iPod

great melodic bass line. bass gives it an indie rock feel but otherwise it has a real retro 70's metal vibe. i dig it. cool fading background vox too.

Tempie, the chorus is definitely inspired by those 70's rock bands, but i liked bringing it a bit more up to date, or at least as up to date as i get ( still stuck in the 90's really!)

glad you enjoyed :-)

Excellent!
The only thing I would do was to tame the vocals a bit.Sometimes they jump over the top of the mix.
But the song is a very energetic and hooky one.Congratulations.

Hi Rich
Glad you liked it. constructive crits are always welcome here. I thought about a solo for this, but then i decided against it, partly because i wanted to keep it short, and partly because im not actually very good at solos!

very cool bass opening up the song. i like your vocals, the double octaves. cool effects and pitch-bending, really adds a lot to the song. there's definitely a great energy to this one that really fits the lyrics. i love the fall-out at 2:15 and then back up to the big chorus. this is great stuff. thanks!

Man- great mix
And I'm a huge fan of the layered, panning vocals. You create a great "3d" sound. Great break toward the end, and your drums are killer. You get a really thick track with some great crunchy guitar, and without distorting things overall. What compressor are you using? Very, very cool.
Check out my latest song called Vessel
anomalous said 3119 days ago (April 4th, 2009)
Thanks Bill
you'll notice ive taken your advice on a couple of things, with the double (or triple in the chorus!) tracked vocals, and the effects on the drums (im not sure they actually sound natural, but i dont really care, because i do think they sound good!)

Overall theres very little compression used anywhere in the song, after seeing what it actually does, ive been trying to move away from using it. that said theres some compression applied to the vocals, and one of the guitars in the chorus (of which theres actually 3 going there). Other than that i set the master track to "rock refreshing sparkle", mainly because i find that, as i record straight into the line in and add effects later, the guitars can sound quite flat and dull. But here ive turned the compressor off as well.

Love it
You are a natural-original man.
And I love the sound of the "band".
That explosion @1:00! c'mon man, you'll kill me!
On this one, I especially like the higher pitch when you sing. And the low vox too :-), but in other of your songs I listened (not many though, trying to catch up) you prefer the low tone most of the time. I think that if you use both (like this one) it will give more dynamics to your music.
Keep it coming man!
