Description
Back in the saddle slinging some noise and having fun with distortion and such. This came together real fast starting with the bass and drums then messing with a synth sound till it was crying to be let go (bit crusher - distortion - wah - automatic filter). Two guitar tracks followed and then the space break was born. It's nice to have some kind of flow going after a bit of a dry spell.

This flows...
like a movie soundtrack for a sci-fi movie that is really nothing but a western in space(see "Outland"- though this wold be more of an Eastwood flick). Love the bass and guitar; power with space between the sounds; big space sound. Diggin' it. Prepare for battle, the bad guys are coming. Great sound Bud.

It's always nice to hear that images are brought to mind - better than thinking about taxes or the bills.

Dry? Kevin, you can't be serious. First of all this is monsterous and very cinematic. The bass is HUGE and diabolical! The bit crushing and distortion going on is dastdardly. I am imagining a super lo-budget desert indie film gone horribly to the dogs and the whole cast and crew die of thirst scratching longingly at the dusty Evian bottles long gone dry and the now-empty styrofoam plates of sushi blowing like tumbleweeds in the hot and acrid breeze. Hmmm, but I digress. Nice tune. DL as usual my friend.

That Artwork!
That artwork is hilarious! I really dig the guitars and the bass. The drums bug me slightly because it sounds like that they occupy a different space apart from the other instruments. The kick drum in particular doesn't sound "roomy" enough. Anyway, that's just a small gripe on an otherwise awesome track!

Good point about the drums
I left them dry when I might have put some extra room on them. They're already DOD Roomy drums - just not roomy enough I guess. I found the image in google by searching "psychedelic metal" - go figure.

cool....
I dig. I like the contrasting guitar styles, at least i think the sound in my right ear is a guitar. really separates the sound. I agree that the drums could be more bombasic, but that's a small gripe. good stuff.

Yeah that's a guitar
one right - one left - two very different settings. It's interesting how in the course of doing a song you can end up with a guitar sound that you'd never start with.

This is such
a great groove bud. Funny, I was just thinking how great the drums sound in my headphones, when I saw the above comments about them.
Pleased you are back on track - great music and mix.
Cheers

I have very old ears I guess cos I am like Len and thought the drums sounded ok ... listening on bose monitors... so it goes. Honestly Kevin ... don't think you had a dry spell ... you were just waiting to get your head around this. Guitar work is sweet man. and of course ... a download indeed. rock on dawg

I started thinking about you and the great job you did on Fear. Any vocals come to mind? I'd be happy to do a remix. It has that dark depressing thing going on that suits your baritone.

Love that crunchy guitar. The overall feel is really cool Bud. This is a great psychedelic jam. Everything works on this.

I especially liked all the tiny tid-bits going on all around the track.

Very nice post Bud.

hey c'mon that's vic on guitar, right? You stole his fave scale lol. this requires some late 70's metal vox and some apocalyptic lyrics. really like the twangy rhythm guitar over in the other ear. artwork is killer too.

Ya know -
I was having one of those weeks with a few dark nights of the soul and this tune began to take on different feelings for me. Nothing too serious mind you - but that cry at the end of the space break didn't come from nowhere. You're a good friend to ask.

The drums are DOD loops
twisted around a bit - but not much. I'm glad you like the bass tone - that's where the song started and an area I've been working on for a while now. Bass is an elusive instrument. Godzilla was really nice to work with BTW.

Don't let any New Yorkers tell you that
and don't tell yourself that. Look at the MC5, The Replacements, Husker Du - The Minutemen - Jane's Addiction - all great bands from across the American landscape. Then there's England - France - Germany - Iceland etc. it's in your attitude not your latitude.
Sorry for the rant - thanks for dropping by. I suggest a distortion pedal and a crappy guitar to get you started.
