Description
Nothing to do with devil's or tattoos really. For those who don't know the devil's tattoo is the rhythmic tapping of ones fingers on a table when bored ( hence the picture).
I was watching some rubbish on TV with a popular entertainer on it and the crowd was in fits of laughter and I couldn't see what was so funny and this led onto a feeling that so much that is 'offered' up as 'entertainment' leaves me cold.
Anyway, hope you like it

Lyrics
Mountains of mediocrity
Oceans of trite banality
I’m bored to tears
‘cos nothing that I see excites me
Fanfare for the common man
It’s the dulcet tones of an ice cream van
and everything that makes you smile
makes me wanna run a mile
I sit at the table drumming out the devil’s tattoo
Does the devil make work for idle hands to do?
Go on, impress me
You never fail to depress me
Your lack of original thought
brings me down
Well I’ve seen it all before
Repetition and so much more
And the world and his wife
are clapping out of time
I sit at the table drumming out the devil’s tattoo
Does the devil make work for idle hands to do?
Oceans of trite banality
I’m bored to tears
‘cos nothing that I see excites me
Fanfare for the common man
It’s the dulcet tones of an ice cream van
and everything that makes you smile
makes me wanna run a mile
I sit at the table drumming out the devil’s tattoo
Does the devil make work for idle hands to do?
Go on, impress me
You never fail to depress me
Your lack of original thought
brings me down
Well I’ve seen it all before
Repetition and so much more
And the world and his wife
are clapping out of time
I sit at the table drumming out the devil’s tattoo
Does the devil make work for idle hands to do?

Real attitude. And a helluva hook in that chorus.
Great performance with a groove I fell right into.
