Strum of Grief

Description
This is a first draft. What I hear is other layers of instrumental music coming in on the second verse. I worked something out on the piano but the piano didn't sound right...
I'd also like the second voice in the chorus not to be mine.

Lyrics
Something happened on the day it rained
It's like I woke up in the most unusual way
& an ocean came up through my face
while my head fell down truth's steep staircase
what a day.

I realized something on the day it rained
but it hurts too bad for me to outright say
But I told the wind with a silence glance
and it knocked the trees right out of their trance
a strange display.

Rain this life out of my heart.

I called my friends up on the day it rained
but I ended up staying home alone to pray
For the first time in my life I'm free
I can love someone who just couldn't love me
and it's okay.

Raw and Beautiful
I love the simplicity of the song, beautiful and heartfelt. It took me on a journey....thank you. I agree with you on the second voice....perhaps keep it without the layers or add in some very light strings in the back ground?

Yes I was thinking about light strings in the background actually... thanks for the second opinion. I will experiment with it. Thanks for listening.

I like this
Yes, there are technical points to address in your recording techniques, but the truth in your voice shines through. Very dark songs that you write. Keep up the flow. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you
Yes, I do tend to write dark songs.... but as Margo Timmins from the Cowboy Junkies says, "Sad songs are happy to me." : ) thanks for listening.

I love how you
say "what a day". The power of the song is in that line. I'm glad you left the piano out. I love the all-by-myself sound.

Rain
I really like this stripped down sound, I think in the chorus you could have lowered down the harmony part. I really like the lyrics and the way you sing it, its filled with emotion and comes of as real. Great song!
