Nice
Very nice. I think the melody and vocal fit the guitar soundbed very well. Lyrics are great - very evocative and narrative, hinting at complex events in just a few lines, very cool. I also think the vocal performance is spot on, capturing the anguish of the protagonist. A really impressive approach to The Front Porch! Nicely done. Peace.

The vocals are the hardest part for me lately. Lots of allergy and sinus stuff and then my voice is out of shape, but I squeeze out some notes every now and then. I am still learning the production side but I think I am getting better at that. The drums are tough, I have the greatest respect for drummers as even doing just the bass and snare drum alone gets me into fits even when I know what I want to play. But this kind of song is the real me. My style, my kind of songwriting, etc. I really was driven from Jacks guitar and the song just tumbled out.

Ah, you have unlocked the Gordon Lightfoot formula for me! Very cool song collaboration. Sounds like a few of the porch musicians got signed and are now doing concerts at the Hampton Town pavilion. Tapes and LPs for sale at the folding table at the rear of the commons (by the dirt parking lot).

I was trying to go Neil Young, but you are right, it just says GL. I thought the same thing once I heard the way it lay out there. There is a rumor that the song title is actually G.L.O.R.I.A. That is, Gordon Lightfoot Original Rip-off, In Action (LOL). I had a blast with it. It does show however that we are always linked to those artists that shaped our own artistry.

Its probably half laziness, half lack of knowledge, but the results are ok. I try to play bass lines I would actually be laying down with the bass. Excellent ..

.. quite a big porch you got there Stephen! ;o) I love the chorus .. those high "Gloria"'s with the harmony are top notch ..and I like the way it comes out of the chorus too. Fine lyrics for the verses too. 60s instrumention serves this well .. could be given a more modern rock band sound too. Reminds me of "The wreck of the Edmund..." in the verses at times and the Kinks overall... and well,
you can't go wrong with those influences. Enjoyed it very much.

How Young are you?
This has a really strong Neil Young feel to it, which is good in my book... love the melody-line in this, and excellent lyrics. Nice touch of bells in the background, and the chorus is awesome, as is the singing and harmony. There is a strange warble in the recording at times that is lightly distracting, not sure if that is the mp3 player, or in the mp3 itself, possibly an artifact of altering the tempo/pitch? Amazingly ingenious take on Jack's Front Porch session.
