Description
Bluesy improv using the Akoustik Piano upright piano. Let me know what you think. Always room for improvement. I have been pretty busy lately, but have been listening in. Keep all the great new tunes coming.

LIke the live jammin aspect the leading on this is real smooth. Some places you can hear the slip of the finger but then what fun would it be! Cool!

There are a couple slips. I've been in a bit of a time crunch lately and haven't be able to get going on any cool mixing projects. Hopefully this summer there will be the time to do some mixing and fixing.

This sounds very good. Nice playing, with a lovely cool vibe to it, like strutting your stuff to music! Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

Yeah, there is a bit of strutting here. All fun though, not to be taken too seriously. Thanks for the comments.

Sounds like you having
too much fun Bill. That's a nice sounding piano from the recording you made of it. Good mic placement and production here too.

Now you need to bring in the rest of the band Bill, that would be cool too. Or not, it's already cool my friend

Thanks

Ed

Lots of fun. Hope I was able to capture it. As to the production, the credit goes to Native Instruments, I just chose the Upright because it seemed most appropriate for this sort of playing.

Downside of not using mics is you can't hear my foot stomping! I will have to figure out how to get that and the rest of the band in.

Good fun Bill
I really like the open feel and the sparseness of the arrangement, I here a dialog between the two voices. The stubborn left hand and the dancing right hand. Cool.

Nice comments. As long as the dialog is friendly its okay to have two minds? Anyway, I do what I can to keep the piano from getting muddy, hard for me to think of a million notes at once :)

Piano Mic
I am starting to look into how we are going to record Kitty's keys. For the piano, we have access to a baby grand, and after hearing the quality of this, I was hoping you could offer some advice on how to mic it.

Thanks for listening. I unfortunately can not help with mics. I use a high quality electronic keyboard with fully weighted mechanical keys to do this. The keyboard is connected to my mac via midi and Akoustik Piano software. Check out Paul Page and John Steebe's work, they also use software pianos to incredible effect. John Steebe or Tobin Meuller might know about the micing of real pianos too. MacJams is an excellent place to learn about music and recording!

Simply...
...put. You are expanding your vocabulary at the keyboard and this is a nice addition to the things I've heard of yours. Keep on experimenting. You have a lot of wonderful sounds coming here, esp. in the outlines of some of the treble tunes. Open up that left hand and let it travel a bit more. You'll be surprised where it might take you. ... This little "low down" improv is very relaxing. The unrushed tempo also contributes to the smooth flow of your ideas and your playing. ... (Sorry I am so late getting to this. I am catching up on several weeks worth of posts... My studio has been "down" for some upgrading and repairs.)
Peace.
Paul
