I STEP OUT

Description
i play with some cool folks at Indaba - BENNY CHRISTA is a wonderfully dynamic professional jazz drummer who pounded his heart out on a pure percussion track. while i was thinking of what might go with that, VECTORSTATION2 mixed in a crazy piano. i came up with some lyrics based on the hook i heard. Benny sent this off to Germany for some bass, and was never heard from again, so this is a rather rambunctious mix with no bass (any takers?) by yours truly.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS BOSSA NOVA - SEEMS MORE "WORLD" TO ME, BUT ALAS, NO WORLD GENRE

Lyrics
I STEP OUT

I STEP OUT INTO THE DAWN
SEE THE BIRDIES STRETCH AND YAWN
FEEL THE GRASS BENEATH MY FEET
LIFE IS SHORT AND VERY SWEET
VERY SWEET
OOOOOOOOO

I STEP OUT INTO THE DAY
SEE THE CLOUDS HAVE COME TO PLAY
I CLOSE MY EYES AND LIFT MY FACE
RECEIVE THE RAIN AND ALL ITS GRACE
ALL ITS GRACE
OOOOOOOOO

I STEP OUT INTO THE NITE
AND KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS RIGHT
BIRDS ARE SLEEPING IN THE DARK
AND ALL IS PERFECT IN MY HEART.
IN MY HEART
OOOOOO

I STEP OUT OF MY SHOES
SLIDE BENEATH A BLANKET BLUE
CLEAN SHEETS BENEATH MY FEET
LIFE IS SHORT AND VERY SWEET
VERY SWEET
OOOOOOOOO

nice
I love this..an awesome percussion groove, great piano changes. Love the whole atmosphere...the vocal and lyrics. Could hear possibly a left turn into a pocket trumpet or kalimba solo. Alao, could use a little more piano in the mix. All in all a great track!

You did good
again girl. Love the Latin (Brazilian sounding?) percussion with the piano....... and your vocals /lyrics just put the finishing touches. For some reason the Latin drums take me back to early film musicals with Xavier Cugat and his Orchestra (sheesh !), but your vocals etc bring it right up to date, cheers M

I think that
it is brilliant the way you manage to put your sweet/smooth vocal over such a busy sound bed and make it sound so perfect.
Cheers

Sweet sweet sweet
Ah, your voice sounds marvelous here, and what a great piece of music framing it. Love the percussion on this; it fairly grooves. Wish I had the licks to lay some bass on this! I hope someone with the fingers for it steps up. The piano is really nice on this too. Kind of feel like it could use one more instrumental color - not sure what, though. Either way, this is terrific. Dare I say, very sweet. Kudos. I hope to hear another stage in the development of this one. Kudos. Peace.

World
This is stellar all around; a great, great track! Lots of easy drive in that percussion, lotsa smarts in the piano and the vocal(s) is beautiful and serene. The whole thing could go anywhere: I hear echoes of West African kalimba bands through 1980 Talking Heads and on through to Shadowfax. But that might just be me......

And thanks for posting the lyrics, I couldn't quite make out what you were singing after "in my heart" :-P

Love the lyrics on this. A very uplifting and "feel good" song. The music is perfect for this. A beautiful way to start the day! And of course ladies, your voices are superb. I have to download everything I hear you do, and I appreciate these gifts. Peace, Terry

Wow simply wow
can you sing... over the top of this world music your vocals still take center stage. I could see this almost in a cirque du soleil or something! Nicely done!

Delicious
You sent me on a tropical forest getaway or an endless beach with a nice breeze. Your voice is the Pina Colada refreshment for the ears.
This is the kind of music that makes you forget all your troubles, providing an instant musical escape. Good Medicine it is.
I need a whole CD of this musical getaway.

birdies
love how you have a core unique style yet you are always expanding it - like a writer that keeps rewriting the same novel, only totally different each time, trying different ways to get it right. Like camus. If that makes sense. also love that you sing the word "birdies".

A great way...
...to greet the day...

The percussion grrove is its own kind of genius, and the piano takes it to another level... And then I'm astounded at how melodic and beautiful a song sits on top of that bed... I love the vocals and the lyrics....

Thanks, Anne,

Ed
