Description
I don't often sing songs in Swedish .. and .. lol .. you'll be glad I don't sing this one in Swedish either .. but! the title is "The Front Porch" in Swedish. (I think .. lol).

Thanks to Jack Miller's "Front porch" concept and for providing the guitar part that forms the basis of this song... it is just as it was downloaded. I wanted to
go for a minimalist approach that a true front porch recording should have .. in parts and instrumentation .. of course my front porch happens to have built in Ozone 3 ..lol.

Front porches always invoke images of twilight/Autumn/Fall years of life.

Enjoy.

Jack Miller (dadai.2): acoustic guitar

Lyrics
Cry my name,
And I will never leave,
Your side.

Cry your name,
And I will always be,
Yooooooor friend. :o)

Kickin' back,
We'll take a moment to ourselves,
From all the repairs needin' doin'
Sit a while with me,
I think there's something worth knowing,

Cry my name,
And I will never leave,
Your side.

Shout my name,
For I will always be,
Your friend.

Sure we'll get old,
Sitting-
Watchin' new lovers go by,
And our children leave....
It's only fair.

Cry my name,
For I will always be,
Here for you.

Cry my name,
And I will never leave,
Your side.

Well, yeah, we're getting older,
Watchin' the kids go away ...
Let 'em go,
Let 'em go,
They've got their lives too.

nice tune Alan
"cry my name" is a line to remember.
very catchy (is that right?), well sung.
harmonies could be more accurate, but would eventually kill the live atmosphere...
great job here!

Very nice
Love the vocal on this, and I really like the lyrical approach. You've managed to evoke a whole lifetime in a few lines, and that's a gift. You sing this really sweetly, with a touch of melancholy, I feel, and an affecting lilt. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

I was struck by how great your vocals sounded from the get-go. You're so emotive. The song is really touching. And the lyrics are your best, I think. So stripped down and sweet.

Thanks everyone!

Firstly, apologies for not replying sooner to everyone: those with Facebook will know that I have busy (co-incidently) with repairing my back porch roof and some bits of my front porch too, and so any online time has been for music collabs or the odd chatroom "hello" etc ..

kassia Thanks very much Shay. The harmonies aren't perfect but doing endless drop-ins would just have killed the feel. One line needs fixing, more to do with the phrasing I feel.
peacepianoThanks Bill for the continued support. I was inspired by Jack's sweet laid back strumming... the melody came to me quite quickly.
davisamericaGlad you enjoyed it Jack.
magnatoneThanks Karen. The lyrics came easily from what I felt was a natural extension of the front porch concept. I perhaps watch too much American TV ;o) Glad u liked them.
I.G.M.Cheers Ingo. Your of course quite correct in your critique. I too felt it was a "catchy" little line, grabbing attention.
WharmtonRise Glad the effort on the vocal delivery is noticed- that took the most time, thinking how most effectively to deliver the lines emotively. Thanks.
carolinehahaha - Proclaimers? Surely not .. bit of my accent creeping in then? ;o) Sheesh, you've been to USA and back before I replied .. shockingly slow.
FeterI'm fond of those type of chords myself - which helped me to adapt to Jack's lovely guitar bed quite quickly. Glad you enjoyed it Ghassan.
OuttaorbitThanks Patrick. Is it really a pic from your house? Whoops .. ;o) Nice porch u got there if it is :o)
Vic HolmanCheers Vic. I'm a reluctant vocalist as u know ... any positive feedback on my vocals is greatly appreciated. Trying to improve but limited with what I got ..
dajamaThanks very much Dave, too kind. Yep, I was going for a *sighing* kind of melancholy .. not more than so .. a kinda "that's the way of the world" thing.
The_Front_PorchThanks Jack! Great concept u had .. and fine guitar bed. Excellent to get your seal of approval.
saymmeTack så mycket Lena - it's good to shed a tear from time to time.
markooCheers Mark - thanks very much for the continued support.
drakonisbring out ... the comfy chair!! hehehe .. cheers Eduard. Was fun to sing to something that was a bit more 'freetime' .. for that vibe.
RoxyleeThank you Roxanne. All the takes on it have been excellent, enjoyed all I have heard.
sschedraThanks Stephen - speaking of which, I particularly enjoyed your version .. and would recommend those that haven't heard it to rectify that immediately.
EstellieWow - to get such a compliment on the lyrics from one of MJs finest lyricists (imho) has made my day. Thanks very much bud.
Joe BradyThanks very much Uncle Joe ;o)
lengoldThanks very much Len. Glad you enjoyed this.
egobanditHahaha .. thanks Tim. Do you know .. I was contemplating both jug and washboard .. but sadly I had neither :o( Thanks for the vocal compliment ... I struggle by but somedays I'm more determined than others ...
CharThanks Charlene. It's "ok" to do a sentimental, mushy number from time to time. Glad u enjoyed it.
DowntrodnCheers dude. Welcome to MJs. Thanks for stopping in.
Nick_FlashThanks Nick - I can only do retro .. s'what I know. :o)
thoddiThanks Thor - if I got away with it, I was happy.
CalchasCheers Mike. Always good to get a chance to exercise the old vocal chords.
yamenyamanCheers - and welcome to the jams. Not very representative of my work this piece (in style). I have done some heavier rockers too.
PickQuickRecordsChris!! Glad to see you around the jams again. This TFP challenge did give me time to focus on the vocal treatment a bit more than I usual can be bovverd ... glad you appreciated it. Thanks for stopping by.
tokaiThanks Steve. Appreciate you stopping in for a listen.

Nice simple piece
Nice mix and tone. Here is the elusive guitar tone Ihave been trying to get. My guitar has too much bass. No matter where I put the mic, it sounds boomy. The neck is the least boomy but less glassy. hmmm. Using a condenser mic too.
