Description
something Thoddi and I have been working on. We'd welcome vocal contributions. Both of us can move our parts around to make room if need be. I'm pretty psyched as to how its happened so far. I think it might need some other twist, but open to suggestion.

ps...Thors solo is killer (1:30 :-)

Wow
Great sound, and some really lovely playing on this. Love the keys and the guitar interchanging and bouncing off each other. I guess I like the female vocal idea, too. Bass sounds great on this, although maybe a touch hot (around 1:47 for example) but that could be my phones (or my ears!). A great track - dying to see where it goes from here. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

David, I added some gain to the bass when mixing it to mp3. Acoustic was deceptive to gauge :-) thx

Vox would be nice...
...but it's a nice tune on it's own, as is. Thor's solo is a beauty...yes...the two of you work very well together

dynamite
works great as a instrumental track. fantastic playing and comp.

but i also wonder why not have Thor sing? seems to me that this tune would be right up his alley.

You're music is very fun to play along to John. The chord progression and the changes you do is to me very tasty. I find it easy and exciting to play along because I like it very much. Thanks a lot for asking - I really enjoyed this one:)

tempie said 218 days ago (April 20th, 2009)
sorta happy
love the use of noise in the guitar solo. i think there's a nice contrast on this one between the laid back keys and the aggressive (at times) guitar - makes for a cool tension. for vox i'd find a dude with a handle on some old fashioned soul - think early Stevie Wonder or Marvin Gay.

oh and the Charlie Brown ending is especially cool :)

how about
tempie vocals ? :-) Stevie's busy. Craig, I think its Thor's guitar that mixes this up in the best way. Adds some very organic riffage to an otherwise fairly sterile bed.

thx for listening

Two master practitioners...
...of phrasing and groove.... It'll be neat to see/hear where this one goes, you two...

I'm catching a little distortion on my system on this... Not often, but from time to time... Since this isn't the final version, that'd be something to listen for down the road...

Two of my fav MJers
Thor's solos are ALL killers John! Your keyboard backing is just perfect too.

A lovely, low key post guys - a little clipping in the phones (mainly RH), but no other nits - seems a very pro outing you've put together. Sounds a little like it could come from a Dave Grusin/Lee Ritenour CD I have.

A female voice would be nice (Lisa Purdey, Kitty from blindsidedpoets or Anne Cozean come to mind), but it stands fine on its own.

Good one!

Lee Rit
Neil, now that you mention it I can totally hear that E335 sound in Thor's playing. I agree its peaking in places and I hope I can fix that when it comes time for a do over.

Always a pleasure to see your comments. Thx

that would be totally cool Phil. Sometimes me thinks its got too many changes :-) to allow a vocal free reign, but I still think it might lend itself in that direction if someone heard a melody! at least I can hope :-)

With or without
vocals this is great music. The interplay between bass, drums and piano and lead makes for a joyous dance. There is a really easy feel to the piece as well. Love it.
