Description:
This started out as a sixties-style acoustic protest song about terrorism. When I was polishing up the lyrics, I remembered the Russian school hostage incident this summer and I got really pissed. I put the Heavy Blues effect on the acoustic, picked-the Stratocaster, and played until I felt better. 100% Loop-free rock…

Lyrics:
Don’t forgive them for what they’ve done
They know exactly what they do
Killing fields in the schoolyard
All in the name of you

Hate pervades tradition
Their lot in life is cast
So they give up their future
To hold on to the past

Lay down your arms
Raise up your hearts
Let the fighting end
Let the new day start

Tell me, can you help me understand
How can you hate a child
You must protect the innocent
Says the god that you defile

Let’s break the chain of terror
Let the violence end
Hate will breed an enemy
Compassion breeds a friend

Liked It Much &mdash 12/06/04 - 01:27:33 AM

This music is my kinda style. I definitely hear the 80s
influence (I think we are the same generation). Great
playing. I like your voice, too. The only things I'd do
different (at least the way it sounds on my headphones) is
push the drums back a touch and bring the vocals up.

Excellent! &mdash 12/09/04 - 05:04:16 PM
Great overall presentation. Professional. Description, art work, lyrics, and a dynamite song. Solid vocals delivered dead on. Rockin' guitar on this well-crafted piece with a message. 4 x 9

Nice! &mdash 12/31/04 - 08:21:25 AM
Great sound...has a "played live" feel. I wouldn't mess with
it too much.

BOC? &mdash 01/12/05 - 10:57:49 AM
Intriguing sound, I liked the melody, guitar/singing/
piano... reminded me a bit of Blue Oyster Cult (whom I
like, BTW). Good guitar playing. There were a couple of
slightly-off-key notes in your singing, but very minor nit-
pick. Overall, I could feel the energy and insistence in
your music. Well done!

BOC? &mdash 01/18/05 - 09:21:41 AM
Oh yeah! BOC! Defintely hear that in the guitar lead that is strung throughout. The more I listen to this song the more I like it (and I listen to it almost everyday).

Give peace a chance &mdash 01/12/05 - 11:18:44 AM
All for the message. My favorite part of this track is the
guitar 8th note figure in the verse and the drive into that
excellent chorus. Great hook, nice short phrases of power
and weight. Excellent balance in the composition. The
track sounded really good in headphones, but seemed a
little muddy in my speakers. Good choice of drums.
Perhaps the song could use a hitch here and there to
breathe, its such a driving groove, something with a
phrase ending fill that gives a 2 note stop before things
kick back in? Another nice track.

Good track. &mdash 01/15/05 - 10:34:39 AM
Great sounding guitars, and nice playing!

I love the chorus in this, the piano is really cool... the
singing is excellent as well.

I don't know what else to say,
no criticism here, its a 10 all around IMO.

way to go!

sorry I missed this one &mdash 02/03/05 - 10:23:01 PM
hi there. After your comment on my latest tune "Average
Joe2" I checked out your stuff and somehow this really
good song had escaped me. The lyrics are really well
written. Thanks for a good listen.
