Description
This is a song I recently wrote and every time I try to put lyrics to it, I fail. So I just
decided to sing along anyway, without words. I also tend to stick with the cinematic,
somber songs and this is another one. It is about reflections, thoughts of the past and
present. I hope you enjoy it. Tell me what you think, good or bad. Thanks!

Wow!!!
So amazing to see you post a new one Gail! I am so floored how you can sing absolutely nothing at all and have it be so amazingly beautiful...

Just sitting here floored... Jaw on the floor! This made my night girl!

Starting the second listen now...
I will sleep with this coursing through my consciousness. Absolutely stunning. Your voice simply washes away all my tension, takes me to a place where there is nothing but good, warmth...

Thank you Gail!

I always think ,....
... your songs are beautiful and especially so when you sing along .... hoping you will find some lyrics soon ... as this one is rich and full of longing ....
gail60 said 214 days ago (April 21st, 2009)
Thanks Alannah
I appreciate you listening and glad that you liked this. I hope to find some lyrics as well. I am not really a big fan of the oohs and ahhhs here. The more I listen, the more I dislike it. Oh well, live and learn...lol

i don't know - does it really NEED lyrics? your voice is an instrument even without articulated words - it's the feeling your voice exudes that makes the song. i guess you could zero in on a theme or content with words, but the feeling that is here is simply here, words or not. my two cents on that subject. your orchestration is beautiful, and the way the piano stands out without being overpowering sounds just right to my ears. gorgeous work gail, as usual!

in the twilight of my mind
maybe the trouble is simply that this lovely melody transcends words?

i'm picturing floating/soaring things in dim but colorful light - maybe birds gliding over a marshland in the twilight before sunrise? but that doesn't really capture it.

thanks

Lovely
As there is with words, there's a unique beauty to a bare voice
- perhaps greater in that it's not confined to a meaning
allowing each person to be touched. . .
well, where he or she is
or needs to.

As others have commented,
maybe there's no need for lyrics. You seem to be telling a story just in the pure sound of your voice. Nice swells from the piano just when you need them, fills when the vocal is not so dominant. Really nice conception of the whole composition, Gail. Yes. It is cinema. Enjoyed listening to the sad loveliness of this number.
Peace.

I tend to hear every single thing that is wrong with this song and the few things that I like. I hear every sour note and it ruins the song for me, yet after talking to a friend here, decided to leave it as is. I am glad you liked it and really appreciate your kind input. You are a true jewel Paul.

don't cry SS
Beautiful piano playing, but this feels unfinished to me. You need to write lyrics to this piece. I think you could still use the vocal tracks you've already laid down as background vocals. But that's me.

Unfinished and blemished. I agree with you. If I had the nerve I would pull the song. but let's chalk this one up as a learning tool. Next time I think of oohs and ahhs.... Just say no! :) Thanks for listening.

You are always so kind and supportive. Thank you so much. As you may have seen from my other responses, I have not liked this one too well. The singing ruined it for me. I look forward to those. I am pleased that you consider it a touching song and I really appreciate you listening to it. Take care.

Sometimes Gail
the words not spoken say more than any words ever could say. This is true in Love, and in Music.

To me those two things have always intertwined, as they do on this beautiful piece. Another beautiful work dear heart. Thank you for baring and sharing your wonderful soul with us.

when I first met you
I thought you were primarily a listener... then you posted you piano music... which I still play sometimes pre-service at church... now I'm hearing your impressive voice and your strong sense of melody... These gifts that you have give the compliments that you sent my way new context and greater meaning ....

I sometimes will sing giberish to something that I'm exploring... to find out what it really says... I don't sing words, just the emotions while searching for the true voice in a song... that is if I'm working from the music toward the lyric...

my ipod gave up the ghost a few months ago... when I replace it... i will certainly be adding to my Gail collection...

thanx; Scott

What a mood you create
Every part contributes so strongly to the tone of this work - wistful piano, heartfelt harmonies, lovely touch in the strings to just round it out.

This needs no works to communicate.

Gail...
This is one of the most soothing and emotionally engrossed pieces i've heard on the site. I actually came here after listening to Mark Holbrooks interpretation, and just HAD to listen to the original soundbed. I often find language to be more of a hindrance than help in some circumstances, and it often gets me frustrated and down. This sounds to me like you just sat down and performed exactly what you were feeling, which is why it's so moving. Those outro ad lib bits just killed me. Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for this
