Description

This song was recorded live to tape. We have the basic bed tracks down, so when we get the intricacies worked out we will do final recording, input is welcome. This was done as a follow up to get live action videos up on youtube (please feel free to go there and Rate/Comment/Subscribe, we would be thankful).

you are such a natural! Great voice and nicely played.

The first time the change comes in, it sounds a little strange, but fits very nicely once the ear gets used to it.

Top song too.

Can I say that the video embedded in the song page is a cool innovation for MJ - I'm not sure that I've seen that before, and it works really well in this sort of situation (ie people who are able to play all parts of a song live). Kitty nails the concept really well. Nigel, could I suggest that you swing around to your left so that a) it looks more like you are involved and b) we can see the fretting etc. I think that might make a real difference in the impact of the video. Maybe you're just trying to give Kitty the limelight, but trust me, she'll take that anyway. Very talented young lady.

Like I said a while ago, I really like the idea of a father/daughter band situation - maybe I'm just a little jealous, as my daughter (who plays piano) and I are both a little shyer than you two.

The video is pretty inspirational, and I'm hoping that maybe more of us might take a plunge into YouTube versions of our posts, live performance or otherwise.

	Kitty I'm afraid it was far less selfless than that :) We tried a better mic on her vox and it was picking up the guitar too much so I had to turn to cut down on bleed. how GREAT to embed the video like this - cool idea! Well Kitty's voice is just extraordinary, and I fully expect we'll be saying "I knew her when" at some point in the not distant future. Neil's comments about how you're sitting in the video Nigel, are really spot on, and I too hope you'll turn toward the camera a bit. This is a great tune that really showcases Kitty's terrific voice, wonderfully delivered. Congrats!

To say Kitty's vocal performance is outstanding is to me, not quite the right way to put it, because every note sounds so effortlessly sung, the only word I can think of to describe it is natural, and that's what you are Kitty, a Natural.

This song is really great and well done. I notice at the guitar solo, the pacing of the song slows down a bit. As a result, once the chorus kicks back in it feels awkward for just a second as you regain the original pace and feel of the song. Your guitar playing is great, but it might be worth considering having the guitar solo be a bit more rhythmic in nature in order to keep the pacing - or, take the feel you create with the solo, into the chorus that follows it for just a bit.

I apologize for going on - I truly enjoy your music and look forward to hearing more from you guys. thank you for sharing this.

	Free You are quite right, I struggled with that... It is meant to be played with a second guitar, bass and percussion, and I didn't really adapt the solo for the thinner sound. Nice one - I'll refrain from repeating the nits above, there are some good points you're aware of. When you get all of the components together it will resolve some of them (minus your back turned, heh). Good song writing, Kitty and performed well despite the stuffy head (I could just barely hear the effect of it).

Watch out for the crit on the next version: "Go back and catch a cold, and do over..." hahaha

Excellent rough cut
As always, beautifully written music and lyrics, and you two performed them so well. My nit is silly, but it was strange to SEE Nigel on the left, and HEAR the guitar on the right :-) Super to see another video of you two... don't forget to embed credits in the video itself for who the songwriters/performers are, since the "YouTube-suckers" (download the videos for off-line playing) are prevalent, and those people lose the context of who this is. Label your stuff, it is great!

This is bloody marvelous ..

really excellent vocals and melodic tune. A very popular catchy blend with touches of the Alanis, Avril, her from the Cranberries (I forget). To get this to where it should be I would only sort two .. no .. three things: record the acoustic with mic, try to make that little piano run roll a little with the flow of the rhythm of the song a bit better .. it might need to actually come in a little earlier than it does at the mo.. and pehaps a little more reverb, wider panned more spacious sound for the piano .. little longer release time might be an alternative to more reverb.

I only say this as this has hit writting all over it. Very jealous .. think Hulk ;o) lol .. keep it up you two.

.. I had a thought: you know how in the song "2000 miles" by the Pretenders .. how that twangly guitar run is used, pause, run, back into mellow flow? Well .. that's how that piano run might work in this... just thought I'd share. You'll need to stop at 0:37 and let your guitar chord ring out a bit into space .. then ..da ra dee ra da da dum. :D

Lesson learned...
Well that had to be the most pleasant surprise of my day... You know, every once in awhile, ya kinda get in your mind these limited and 100 percent inaccurate images and thoughts about the artist that's commenting on your music, but only to show up to their page for a listen and be knocked off your feet by what you hear. That just happened to me, You're definitely not a guy and droning off key thru and thru an electronic loop enchanted disco mess of an effort. Nothing about your first impressions to me makes this make sense, but It can happen... Sorry!... You couldn't be anymore from such untruthful soils of my raggedy imagination, Kitty! (Kitty os my sister's name, as well)

Beautiful, warm/professional/excellent writing/performing and all things that matter, but most of all, that was a highly desirable listen this morning. Thank you for setting me straight....

That'll teach me... (until the next time my mind chooses lazy and closest to the trappings of, plane st00pid!)

would be completely wrong of course, because this is another excellent tune from the blindside! Kitty's really got such a great voice, cold or not. The 6/8 time is working brilliantly and sounds completely natural. Ok if i have to have a nit, its that little bit where the keys come in, which seems to halt the flow a bit, but its only an opinion. The break for the guitar is really nice.

Vocally, Kitty works very hard to develop her timbre, tone, and accuracy. Her dedication is impressive, and I'm very glad someone of your caliber sees her talent!
Musically, she understands more than a lot of musicians (let alone 14 year olds) the band dynamic, and importance of using all the instruments (including vocals) to enhance the song, not your ego!

Thanks for the comment. The vocal collaboration, I will add it to my list (yes I have one) of tunes to work with and run it by Kitty, at this point though, we are limited to maybe only do a couple (especially Kitty is in high demand) as we are trying to get our album recorded. Not a slight at all though, that tune is great, just limited on time and already agreed to a couple.
