Lyrics

Pull me down. Cut the cable.
Once it's come and gone, you won't forget it.

All these moments, once suspended
Drawn in white lines on the pavement,
Rushing by like onward headlights
Red tails shaking in the distance.

You can't tell me that.
"That's all that there is.
That's all that there is to this."
Ten hundred yards and closing fast.
That's all that there is,
that's all that there is to this.
I'm in it as the moments pass.
The fatal shot.
A roadside crash.
Turn it off. Cross me out.
Onward forever.

Pull me out and call the wrecker.
Nothing but bloody whites and rubberneckers.

Cuz it's over. Hero's wasted.
Loves gone, storming for the exit.
Words grow distant, losing tenses,
ringing, endless intermissions.

It stops.

You can't tell me that.
"That's all that there is.
That's all that there is to this."
Can't make it new, can't take it back.
That's all that there is,
that's all that there is to this.
Cycles always chasing dawn,
The cauldesack where lines were drawn.
I don't know. Time won't wait.
Onward forever.

It kept coming around.
It came in so fast. So far.
So hard. We tried the run.
But the moment was gone,
so easy to grasp, i know,
The hard part's holding on.

What did he say? Got carried away.
You're falling away and out of time.
You said it before, love
And you're right.
I don't have that right.

It could have been so easy.
What was it? And how did you fake it?
I'll tear it all down
again and again, my love,
til all that's left is the light.
Yeah, the light, love.

Cool
Thanks for the encouragement, Feter. This one went through a lot of versions to get it to where it's at, so it's good to know that there's a payoff. I'm glad it still rocks, too. I was afraid it might get too soft. Again, thanks so much for listening.

Yeah, man
Very tasty...arrangement, killer vocals, interesting enigmatic lyrics...it all works. Very pro, top notch cut. Love the build/crescendo at the end then the fade. Everything very distinct. Great production of really good song. All your work paid off! This deserves some radio play.

The vocals
Never could get the voice right until 3 am yesterday. It's funny how that happens. Thanks for the radio-play compliment. I'd settle for some internet radio circulation - I think it actually reaches a wider audience than the run of the mill airwaves! But outside of that, I really enjoy sharing it with my brothers and sisters on Macjams. The feedback has been so positive here. I'm afraid that anywhere else, I'd be thrown to the wolves! Thanks for taking the time to listen, John.

Hey Mowguy
Thanks for the feedback, mowguy. Glad you had a chance to check out my other stuff. So many talented people here - you'll never know how grateful I am for the comments. Listening to some of your stuff, you're all quality when it comes to performance, so that's a huge compliment. Thanks for checking it out.

Wow! Almost overlooked this one
Solid display of talent here - nice intro, songwriting, very creative mix of distorted bass and glockenspiel and wow, just very accomplished performance on all levels. Very impressed! I'd play around with the strings, they are the only instrument sounding just a bit weak. The piano sounds a bit like an afterthought and could maybe come in a little bit later to help the buildup, maybe even instead of the strings in that section before the finale. The synth towards the end on the other hand fits perfectly. Your vocals definitely have to be stronger in the mix - you sound very confident and have a great, expressive voice - it sounds a little bit in the background in this mix. Guitars sound great!

Just a few ideas while I'm listening, but what an accomplishment, it's really hard to get a good mix like this with so many instruments and you're doing a great job. Would be interested in how many people were involved in this. Just you? Then you'd be a genius.

Thanks man!
Thanks for all the great feedback. I agree, the piano crowds the beginning pretty needlessly. When i was laying down the bare bones of the song, I liked the texture, but as things got a little more crowded, they managed to stay. I'm working on remixing all these tunes for a CD, so I will certainly be cutting that out, as well as trying to float the vocals a little better. There are a lot of instruments in there, and it makes tweaking pretty time consuming, but I'm slowly but surely getting around to it.

I am so grateful for the support. It's just me on the tracks, and it's really great to hear such great praise. Most of the time my fiance is the only one who hears them, and I think she gets a little tired of it, so the most I can get out of her is an "I like it." She's not the dissecting type, I suppose.
The constructive feedback on macjams has been phenomenal, and it pushes me to keep working hard.
