Death Don't Have No Mercy In This Land (Old)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
Death and misery; this song started life sometime in the late 19th century, with notable recordings by Rev Gary Davis (1930s) and The Grateful Dead ('60s).

It is also kind of a placeholder; I have posted the same song/mix, etc, before, under a different name.

Sweet
You don't hear blues piano too much, on this site or otherwise. The guitar parts are cool too, but it's nice to hear some piano for a change. Great track.

I see in the description...
I was wrong about this one. I thought it was a Grateful Dead Tune. This is very very well done. Vic is right about the piano blues, I think it might be the first I have heard here. Thanks for the history lesson too.
Peace
Guy

My pleasure....fact is, there aren't many piano players that know how to play well in a band situation (close chords, stay out of the way of the bass player, etc), but Graham (Guest, AKA Psycho Bob) is an all around exceptional musician who chooses the piano as his mode of expression - I'm very lucky to know him.

Geez
That damn Graham is getting more limelight than me. I'm obviously going to have to kill him or something.....
But seriously....get the right players together and it's so easy to make good music.
Thanx for the nice words.

YEOW...
I didn't realize this is Public Domain. I wanted to cover it with the Goodwillys a couple years back but couldn't find any legal info on it. One of my faves. (I personally prefer the old Hot Tuna version...)

Really top-notch job here. Love it.

Be well friend!

Keys are great turn here, a surpise over the arrangements start. The old war horse still rolls out nicely.

agreed.. Excellent... Only thing was the guitar lead may be up a tiny tiny bit too loud for my taste... It covered the sweet piano a little! Just my 2c.

Very nice track!

this
sounds really good, man. especially that slide work and the piano solo. your voice has a roger whitaker sound to it, which is really cool to me because i've always wanted to hear him sing a darker song like this. great job. looking forward to more blues from you if you have it.
