The Abyss (007 mix)

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
This is the instrumental version of the track. There may be a less intense version with lyrics on the way. The track is supposed to represent the abyssal plains and trenches of the ocean. I thought it felt very Bond(ish) hence the name. The pic is only there cause its oceanic and I like it. You obviously don't see the sun from the very bottom of the ocean! I hope you enjoy and please feel free to comment! ;-)

Renamed it.

What an amazing
sound you have here. One of the very best mastering jobs I've heard here (ozone 5? I've just forked out for 4, is there a 5 already).
Where did that fantastic vocal come from?
Really sterling work.
Cheers
Len

Sorry!
I mixed up the version numbers of Cubase and Ozone.

The vocal is from a sample pack called Diva for Kontakt

Cheers.

Time to catch an alien
Like a Bond theme yes, but also more ethereal. Like it should be an underwater theme on another world where life developed under the water and stayed there, There's even the siren singing.

Lovely piece Andrew and very well produced and recorded. I love it my friend.

Very nice
It does have that 'Bond(ish)' quality to it. If you close your eyes, you can imagine an amazing adventure - exploring a different world - "The Blue Planet"- peaceful yet full of wonder and discovery.

words cant really describe the places this song and many of your others take me... I could talk about all the technical stuff, but no reason to - just sit back and relax....

sensual journey
what a sensual journey this was! the chord progression had a quite sorrowful mystical sensual vibe in it. this will dramatically compliment any cinematic content - because it is already filled with imagery on its own :)

thanks for creating & sharing this track

awash
Starts out softly, but definitely has a strong undercurrent. Possibly a little too much high-end "bite" in the first part of the piece, I might soften some of those synths, but overall this is way cool, love the vocal and flute samples, and the way this just carries me along... had to listen 3 times before I could re-surface enough to comment... that's a great submersive ride!

Great tune! So glad this was linked to in the chat. I really enjoyed this tune. I think the hardest thing about songs like this, is choosing what to put in, and what not to... You did that very well!

Cool sounds
Lovely floatiness! Really takes off with the drums and the great little synth sounds wibbling away in the background. Great bass too, really drops in there. You manage to achieve a really BIG sound without anything getting swamped. Is Ozone that good? I'm still using Logic Express' presets!!

Another winner. You just flow this stuff out of your creative self like it was your instrument. Really cool job here. I can't believe the quality on the vocal phrasings. How do you get the singer to gliss to another note? is that the pitch wheel or do you change notes with a different pressure?
Very impressive.

Fully Immersive
Certainly has that 007 feel. Great buildup of sounds and developing rhythms as the piece progresses with a highly varied set of synths to pack in the interest. The diva samples and duduk (?) stand out for me as especially nice touches, but that is amongst many brilliant artistic choices you have made throughout.

This level of mastering is quite amazing. Clean, where you can have so much going on all with its own aural space.

A1 results. Cheers Andrew,

Doug

The second
"cinematic soundtrack" in a row, in fact I think I've just listened to 5 instrumentals in a row. Not sure how that happened. Anyway, I'm just pointing that out because this had quite a big job to get noticed after hearing so many great bits of music. Within a few bars I was hooked, wondering where this was going to go. I like the hints of underwater-ness in the opening sounds. The whole thing reminds me of a huge manta ray flying through the water(admittedly, near the surface) and just watching.............. I'm not sure if it's the sample you used for the voice, but when it came in is the only time I noticed any hint of "hotness" in the mix. Maybe it's clashing with something at the same pan-point or maybe it's just a little loud (maybe it's my 'phones!) - definitely worth a fix though as this is otherwise quite an amazing piece of work.
Well done.
