I am not really sure what this one is about. About how people judge each other I think. About how seeking the truth is not that important, I guess people already have the "answers" so they forget to ask the question. I saw a quote earlier today that Bud posted on another song, and it said something about making the question more important than the answer. Well, if not more, I think questions are at least as important, because without them the answer is useless, really, isn't it? And how can you be sure what you are really answering if you haven't really given the question any thought? Also I think that blind answers can be big trouble because they delude people from finding real answers to real questions. Why ask if you think you already know?
I once heard a story... it was basically the husband asking the wife, "hey I noticed you always cut the end off the roast before you put it in the oven... why?". She says "I don't know. My mom taught me to do it that way, I better ask her." She calls mom and asks, and mom says "I don't know, your grandma always did it that way. It seemed important, let me call her and ask.". She calls Grandma, and grandma says "Oh, I had a small pan and I had to cut the end off to make it fit.". GREAT. Three generations are cutting the end off the roast and they don't even know why! They probably don't have a small pan anyway! Silly! This is what I mean I guess. Answers can be silly if you haven't pursued the question.
Production notes, on this song I used my Fender Jaguar and Deluxe amp. This is the only song I've done where these were actually used, normally I find their sound isn't "right" for what I'm trying to accomplish but on this song it was just the opposite. Nothing else would have worked without that Jaguar. It is perfect for the song and I am very happy with the result.
Also, I had some earlier working copies of this song and the lead guitar actually changed a lot for this version. There is much more expression and inflection on this version. I guess I can't explain. Nevermind.
Very cool to have you here though, thanks for listening. Love to hear your thoughts.

Lyrics
I find you in your innocence and I fail to understand
why I've found you in your darkest hour and you're
down on your knees again
Did you find your revelation giving you the answers that you need?
Or did the sound of silence beckon you to the welcome arms of sleep
Save me
From this complicated mess
Tell me
What do I have to do
to get through to you
Can I see through your mystic eyes
to the world you keep within
I wonder where I am inside you
do I have a place to live?
Will I find your revelation
giving me the answers that I need
Or am I knocking outside your door
while you're swallowing the key
You're waiting on the circumstance to line up at your feet
waiting for the perfect chance to change your destiny
why I've found you in your darkest hour and you're
down on your knees again
Did you find your revelation giving you the answers that you need?
Or did the sound of silence beckon you to the welcome arms of sleep
Save me
From this complicated mess
Tell me
What do I have to do
to get through to you
Can I see through your mystic eyes
to the world you keep within
I wonder where I am inside you
do I have a place to live?
Will I find your revelation
giving me the answers that I need
Or am I knocking outside your door
while you're swallowing the key
You're waiting on the circumstance to line up at your feet
waiting for the perfect chance to change your destiny
