Description
Here’s fiddle, bodhran, accordian, guitar, tin whistle and bouzouki kept more or less in time by Ken as they scamper through ‘The Home Ruler’ and ‘Blackberry Blossom’.
The picture's of Laura Targett, Lucy Randall, Pete Gazey and Tim Edey at Littlebourne in Kent. They weren't playing on my recording but I like their music!

nicely played
Enjoyed this. Very well arranged and played. Are these Celtic "jam pack" samples?

I wrote the music out in Sibelius, where it plays back using sampled sound from Garritan Personal Orchestra (in this case a Stradivarius violin!) and exported it as a sound file to GarageBand. I recorded the guitar and bodhran tracks live. The result was a bit thin so I went back to Sibelius and re-exported the music as a MIDI file to add to the GarageBand tracks. I converted the MIDI into bouzouki, tin whistle and accordian using the World Music Jampack.

The MIDI tracks didn't quite match the tempo of the music so I spent rather a long time cutting those tracks up to make them fit - hence my reference in the song bio to me keeping the band 'more or less in time'!

The fiddle sound in Jampack is not very good which is why I used the superb Sibelius violin sample. It would have been considerably quicker and easier to write the whole thing out in Sibelius with harmonies and variations. It would have fitted together perfectly. Unfortunately my Sibelius is orchestral and doesn't have bouzouki, tin whistle and accordian!

Many thanks, John, for your appreciation- it's made the whole business worthwhile!

Thank you so much Feter. I'd hoped the sound would be lively- you can never quite tell how a project is going to sound until it's finished!

This is a joyful arrangement. I really dig the layers added in ever so tastefully.

Thank you Alan, I'm really glad you liked the layers of instruments; That was fun to do but took a long time. It sounds good in headphones- you get better stereo!
The words 'joyful' and 'tastefully' are music to my ears; now I'm keen to do some more!
