Jim's Groove

Description
First things first.... This is not me on guitar.

I've been recording with one of my friends, Jim, who is pretty amazing on guitar, we've been busy for the past 3 weeks doing two CD's worth of music that Jim plays on guitar. He is pretty technology illiterate, so I have been recording his tracks in garageband until we have enough that he likes that we will then master and burn on to a few cd's.

I was so excited about the ones we did tonight that I thought I'd post one to show everyone what I've been up to. This one is a rough draft. Jim came to my place with the idea and we found a drum track that matched his idea and jammed over it. We played it once thru while he showed me the changes and then recorded it in one take, with the lead guitar on an additional take. I'm not sure of how it's going to sound when we are done, but it's pretty good so far in my opinion.

Enjoy....

guitar: Jim (Ibanez PM20 Archtop)
bass: Brian (home-made electric bass)

Since this is not my song I'm not allowing downloads on this, sorry.

Jim's Groove is Happening
Jim has got that groove in the right place. Nice work all around. Nice feel, good bounce. Nice development throughout and he returns to the head for a restatement.
Makes me want to play.

I totally get...
...and respect why you're not allowing downloads...

But what a disappointment! This sounds great... the performance and the recording both....

LOVE THIS JAM!!
great stuff there guys!!

I`d like to give a suggestion if I may? with using a looped drum track.. use the volume slider to fade the drum loop into the songs.. bring it up a little slowly to allow the REAL music to highlight the beginning of your songs.. Im not trying to be negative, just thought that is would help to hide the LOOPED drums.. asside from that there isnt anything ellse but a solid bassline and sweetness on the archtop..

yes thanks for the critique
i appreciate a good critiqe, my impatience regarding midi drums is one of my weaknesses. I'll have to work on that more when I master all these songs we recorded.

Came onto your site as a result of seeing your positive remarks about jazz. Glad I did. Your mate Jim is a friend to treasure. Really enjoyed this track.
