I've never heard any of Tomita's stuff, so it wasn't intentionally - or even subconsciously done. :-)

Good version
My favorite version is actually ELP's. But I think your version is better than Tomita's. And then we have Tangerine Dream, of course, with famous thunderstorm and horse carriage intro, Yamashita Kazuhito (classical guitar), Mekong Delta (hard rock), Janos Solyom (classical piano), Lorin Maazel (trumpet), Allyn Fergusson (jazz) ....

Seems to be great music for just about any genre :-)
