annie Laurie Yes, I think the banjo can be "shouty" as you say. In a rocking bluegrass tune it drives the song; in something like this I try to blend in a soft sound. Check out my latest song called in shadows

You and John work good together. I like the Banjo and dulcimer combination on this one really well. Good job on the mixing too.
