Lyrics
We thought we had it all right.
We thought nothin could break us.
Then that one day turned to night
to show us what we're made of.

And I tried to fight for what we had,
but your thoughts and your dreams made me too sad.
And I tried, and I tried, and I tried so.
But I knew this was as far as you'd go.

Time doesn't make it alright.
I still remember your face.
I'm sorry you think we fight,
but I don't like you away.

And I tried to fight for what we had,
but your thoughts and your dreams made me too sad.
And I tried, and I tried, and I tried so,
but I knew this was as far as you'd go.

And I tried to fight for what we had,
but your thoughts and your ways made me too sad.
And I tried, and I tried, and I tried soooo,
but I knew this was as far as you'd go.

Much enjoyed the 'emotional' ride.Though the information about the piece is sparse(lyrics, equipment, etc.) i do like the overall vibe, your choice of sound sources and your vocal work. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback:
Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you liked it. Do people on here care that much about lyrics and equipment? I'm pretty new at this, and you're the first to say anything. If so I will definitely put that stuff up when I post a song. Thanks again!

sparkly nirvanahorse
Hey dude I like this - i like the way the entire tune is built around that simple melody. Hints of nirvana and sparklehorse. Cool. You should check out rsorenson (here on MJ) - i think you'd like his stuff. Def list lyrics and hardware - we're most of us musicians and record at home gearheads so we like that kind of thing...

Thanks guys
I will definitely start listing my gear and more about the song. It's weird to think people actually wanna know how I do things. That's new for me. And I seriously thought about finishing the build and nailing some guitars and drums in there, but I wanted the song to go like that relationship did... Always thought it was gonna go somewhere, then one night out of nowhere, it ended.

excellent
i love this. right up my alley. like Temple says: we are all geeks, let us look under the hood. i like that there are no drums in this one, suits the tune well for me.

Thanks michael
It's cool that people are into that besides me. I have a ton to learn, so please feel free to offer constructive criticism to any of my work. I love getting better! Thanks again!

it
is definitely a style thing. i've posted a lot of songs that people suggested I maybe add some drums or more guitars. love the constructive criticism, but more often than not, those choices get made when the song feels right to me. now sounding right is another issue altogether (still working on that one). you share some common ground with rsorenson and myself; always cool to have more like minded people on the path. looking forward to hearing more.

Drift Who is Lost in Nirvana
Pilot every post is better than the last. My hat is off. Minimal and antipop and this is gripping. The tense flavor of this piece yearns for release yet is denied. Hopefully a full on Who smashup follows this interlude!
Up for suggestions? At the end of the each line, "right and night" I hear an a sitar like inflection, ornament, of a third and back. I also hear a little roto cab treatment on the vocal. Just enough swirl to smooth out the consonates?
Thank you. I appreciate the hard work you are doing to give us these delights.

Thanks for writing
You guys give awesome feedback. Thanks a bunch! Daugrin, I am up for suggestions, but you'll have to clarify for me because I'm pretty new at this and relatively dumb in the production world. I look forward to hearing from you again! Thanks fellas!

Gotta get on Rid and Michael for not
letting me in on their secret. You definitely have a style that I can get next to - this is track three for me and they are all winners. This is so good without the drums and the rhythmic drive on the single note guitar line. Damn good.
If you get a chance stop by for a listen. Try Slipped Away - I'd be interested in your comments.

Take off
and landing. The two most difficult aspects of flying. And you fly high here.

M2 did justice to your tune.

This one is great too

I started writing music the day I picked up my first guitar. I couldn't play any "real" songs, so I just messed around until I found something I thought was cool. Eventually, I learned songs from my favorite bands, but I never lost the desire to wr... [see more]
