Welcome back
Feedback? Overall, this has a warm-but-slightly-wistful quality, very nice to listen to. Critiques would be: as things first start, it felt like the timing was slightly off between percussion, guitar, and vox, minor, but noticeable. Also, I really love the lower-octave sung harmonies, but maybe a little more EQ or panning to separate them from the guitar and main vox, it gets a little muddy in spots. Perhaps also more "air", drop a bunch of instruments out in spots, then bring them back so the texture is not so even all the way through. These are extremely minor, but since you asked for feedback... :-)

thanks drak
And you hit the nail right on the head. It was the clarity of the lower (me) descant that my drummer was concerned about and I was wondering if anyone else heard it the same way.

what Drak said and...
I agree with Drak's take. My additional thought is that about 2/3's through the song an instrumental break and tempo break that slyly morphs and ramps up the tune for a number of measures... a bit of a jam-fest of electric guitar, bass, and drums kicking in ala Zepplin... a riff that goes to another place for a time... then quieting back down to what you already have in the last third with acoustic guitars and both vocals. In my mind, that is some texture and a very satisfying ride.

yup
No fair Jack, you already know how heavily influenced we've been by Zep lately (the album is done except for mastering btw, I'd still like to get Alimar to do that).

Maybe now is a good time to come clean and mention what this song was written for. You see we've been very into making movies for the past couple of years and have come up with a concept that's sort of a cross between Magical Mystery Tour, Rock'n'Roll Circus, The Song Remains The Same, A Christmas Carol and The Trailer Park Boys with a heavy dose of Algonquin legends thrown in. And you're absolutely right about the riff that takes it to another place for a time. Page would be proud of you. Now all I have to do is wait for that riff to pop into my head :) For now, we have five other new tunes to get to the point Woodwinds is. We're also working Dorian, Wasted and Younger Days into this , so look for your name and jig's in the credits when it gets released nationwide lmao.

Snow
there's a quality about the higher vocals in this that reminds me so much of a voice from my past - no not my MJ past! I like the song and the performance, but at the same time heard pretty much what Eduard mentioned and Jack confirmed. There are things here that could be fixed, but the quality of the main voice keeps me very interested for at least (at this stage) 3 plays.
Good to see you back snow!

OK, uncle lol
lol, OK, so now I'm outvoted 4-1. But this is a good thing. I pretty much knew what needed to be done but also needed to hear it from some more musicians whose opinions I respect.

Thanks a million for the excellent feedback guys, very much appreciated.

After reading the critiques
I'm looking forward to hearing version 2. I thought this one sounded really good, and if you develop it like they suggest, it will be great! The melody reminds me of the Metallica song, Nothing Else Matters.
