Chutney - the India Jam series

Description
For those who enjoyed
the first post of this series
here's another one. I wrote concerning it :

"Recorded in India - where I lived on and off a while back - it features Bikram Singh, a gifted bansuri flute player I had the opportunity to occasionally jam with. Trained in indian classical music, the beauty is that his playing was also grounded in folkloric music as he was raised in a village where he picked up the flute at a tender age. Also playing here are a friend of his on tablas, and a friend of mine on bass. We made an afternoon session the day before I left the country, as I wanted to capture something of the wonderful moments we had playing together."

The piece is based also on chords of mine, largely improvised. I tweaked the audio file to the best of my ability in Logic.

Enjoy.

Ancient
there is something ancient about the sound of this flute
- it actually is, of course, quite ancient.

tablas
like I've never heard before. What a great jam session to capture the joy you all shared together. The bansuri flute is a delight as are the accompanying tracks. It breathes pure sunlight

Well, yes
Nothing like areal tablas player. Pure sunlight - it was actually a beautiful sunny day, as we recorded in a living room flooded with sunlight.

Thanks for your appreciation
and for coming by !

Sparkling interplay
Gorgeous musical ideas, melting and morphing into each other, like sunlight through leaves, like running barefoot through soft grass, flying over great canyons, dancing wildly in the firelight, sadly watching the sunset for the last time, etc... definitely paints vivid mental pictures for me. What a wonderful recording session... a very talented group of musicians here. The recording sounds quite good.

Well
The recording didn't sound that good, yet after using my profound mixing skills - ahem - I could bring it up to a decent place.

Yeah, it was a wonderful session - have a listen to 'Masala' which, to me, taste even better.

Thanks for your lovely comment and support, Édouard !

This is the stuff I dream about doing... Excellent Jam. Even liked the guitar percussion you did about 8 mins in. great music all the way thru. recording quality did not affect my enjoyment of this piece at all, great music is great music. I'm way behind since the last time I checked out your stuff. I better catch up there's 'boundless' musical goodness in there.

Jungle Book
meets Moody Blues......a very entertaining piece and I love the way that it builds up gently and starts to sway in that typical Indian dance snake like motion....oh pots I know what I mean !! Cracking good piece, new direction for me!
