Glenlivet Beer House

Description
A couple of traditional reels, 'Glenlivet' and 'A Glass of Beer' with a touch of Grieg.
As the photo shows, the pubs in our town, like the tunes in this medley, are gregarious and like to snuggle next to one another!

that's some fine picking there my friend. you reproduced the fiddle ornaments well with the MIDI too.
my only nitpick is that the bass seems a bit "boomy" for some reason.
Overall, Very enjoyable! I always like to hear your stuff.

Many thanks! Yes I'll change that bass! I tried to get the Sibelius sampled fiddle in time with the MIDI but it wouldn't, so I had to do the whole thing with GarageBand sounds, apart from some pleasant real guitar!

Chestnut,

I'm blown away with this song, and in awe of your very well done counter melodies within. I give this an A.

Thank you very much indeed for your kind comments, Alan. I never quite got the hang of written harmony in my college days but have always found it natural to 'hear' tunes that fit, and give them a tweak where they don't!

Thank you for the WOW Feter! Well, the guitar is real- I'm playing the rhythm on a lovely new Martin. I wrote out the music using Sibelius notation software, put it into GarageBand as a MIDI file and made one of the instruments play back as mandolin. That was the easy bit! The fiddle was really awkward- it was correct when I wrote it and played it back in Sibelius but out of time in GarageBand. Last night as I was falling asleep I thought of a way to keep it in time. I'll try it out on my next piece of music!

Makes me want
to go to one of these pubs to hear some music and to dance. It sounds like such fun! You do such a great job on these; it sounds live.

I love traditional songs and music, especially the ones that sound alive! I've led several folk bands for barn dances and quickly learned the importance of an upbeat to keep people on their toes and enjoying themselves. I'm so glad you like the results here; it's a great encouragement to carry on. A big thank you!
