Description
This song is about my friend Terry Judge who was killed in a motorbike accident when he was just 23 years of age. The shock still lives with me to this day & has shaped my whole outlook on life.
I often think of his last moments on this Earth & hopelessly try to imagine what they would have been like.
I literally saw him just 12 hours the night before & on that fateful day after, I would not get to see him ever again, he was gone. He also had Frank, another, but not so close friend of mine on the back of his motorbike, it was freak 25mph accident, & after the funeral his girlfriend announced she was pregnant! He never knew, so sad. She had the baby, a baby girl, named 'Terri' after her Dad.
We all helped her financially & decorated etc. & one my other friends Mark after about a year or two eventually married her, which sounds weird but he was actually the closest friend to Terry. You just couldn’t make it up, I have often thought it would actually make a good film.
Still think of him & especially if I hear, Simple Minds ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ which ironically was one of his fav song & very definitely as I wrote/sung/& recorded this song Head Cave I was thinking of him all of the time, this sortta sound would have been right up his street.
It was a very very sad time & hard for all of us to deal with at that age. It has stayed with me my whole life, & even though times are hard for me now I stop & think of him & the fact that I have had 25 years more on this Earth than he did!
It helps me to cope with the **** I am going through & realise that I shouldn’t worry too much about anything really!
I dedicate this song to you mate & will never forget you. I can still see you picking out burnt crisps & chuckin' them, cutting off any dodgy looking bits from your Steak, (he was such a fussy eater his poor Mum lol ) & jumpin’ about your bedroom doin’ air guitar to Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell - Terry, I thank you for the endless laughter you bought into mine & others lives & will never forget you.
Love you Mr.Judge you were a top geezer

My idea for the lyric was like: Accident - Hospital - Grave & the person involved
seeing & hearing but not being able to communicate & also not believing he was dead, maybe that is the case? Then finally watching the Fluorescent lights rushing by in the Hospital corridors as he lay on the hospital trolley on the way to 'crash' to have his heart re-started then seeing the neon Emergency EXIT sign above a door as he is led IN to wherever we go!
LYRICS
Blood is pushing through my veins
But not reachin’ my legs
Breathing’s shallow
Body weak
There’s pressure in my head.
Traffic moving by so fast
It leaves me motionless,
Chaos happening all around,
There’s crying & distress
Silence comes, it’s deafening
Echoes through my head
The sound of nothing everywhere
I wonder am I dead?
I wonder am I dead?
Cold is hot & hot is cold
Vital signs go out
Will I make it through this night?
Don’t leave me any doubt
Don’t leave me any doubt
Fluorescent lights go rushing by
There’s Panic everywhere
Silhouettes come into view
Voices fill the air
Voices fill the air
There’s someone standing over me
I can see them through the haze
What the hell is happening?
Must have been here days!
Nothing in my world seems real
But I feel like I’m awake
Can it be I’m in a dream?
But nothing here seems fake?
Nothing here seems fake!
And the entrance IN has EXIT
In neon over head?
They lower a man into his grave
But I’m sure that I’m not dead?
Am I sure that I’m not dead?
Have I reached the end? the end,
Am I near the end? the end.

Great work here. Effective lyrics, big sound, with a powerful build towards the end. Helluva story.
