Description:
The bike race of this kid's life!

This is one of my all-time favorite pieces I've done!
I like to tell a story and have music help sell the story. I've done a song called "The Horse Race" that does somewhat the same thing.

You know how when you were smaller like 8, 9, 10 kids can be cruel. Suffering can be pretty intense at that age. There always is the star athlete or kid prodigy that had an attitude a mile long.

This is just about winning amongst kids at their own game when they think they are the best! And only from one they wouldn't dream of ever beating them. A kid that was truly ostracized from their group! They were friends to him but they didn't think even close to being a winner!

Lyrics:
'Bike Race" words!

This is the race all miy friends are here, Jimmy, John and Billy Joe.
The School's put it on my friends think their the best well, i will know!
There's that fastest kid in town he won trophies all around some as tall as wide as a chair.
He just shot ahead jumped the gun, that's unfair!

We'll I can't cry about it now, the race is on and I just got out in front!
It would take for me to win this race a real stunt!

Chorus:
Well I can't slow down, if I do I know I will loose ground!
Well I can't slow down, if I do I know I will loose ground.
No matter how hard I try, someone's right close bye!
I know I can't slow down.

I'm losen my breath quick fell like I'm getting sick.
Feels like this is going to be one tough race!
Going real fast all my friends I'm shootin past.
Like a rocket in outer space!

The dog thats crossed the road, truck with a heavy load.
O no what I'm I going to do?
Between them both is narrow.
Gotta be like an arrow and shot on through!

Chorus:
Well I can't slow down, if I do I know I will loose ground!
Well I can't slow down, if I do I know I will loose ground.
No matter how hard I try, someone's right close bye!
I know I can't slow down.

Guitar solo

Feel like I'm swervin my poor bike is curvin.
To the side, side, side of the street.
Gotta pedal fast, my breath won't last.
The pedal just left my feet!

Finish lines ahead, I feel like I'm dead.
The line just hitt my chest.
The crowd is jumpin my heart is thumpin.
Well, just beat the rest!

Now, I am a winner, not more will they call me a beginner.

My friends will treat me with respect.

My friends will treat me with respect.

My friends will treat me with respect.

My friends will treat me wih respect ! ! !

I did post at bike forums to get this song out there but I have to admit, this
beats that.

I don't know if anybody would pick up on this but when the
last word "respect" is mentioned I get the feeling of the brake of
the bike being closed with the kid's hand. I didn't do this on purpose
but it seems like it does bring this out in the .mp3.

Thanks again

3 top WP's! &mdash 12/12/04 - 09:10:03 AM
You've got the top three spots on Weekly Picks at the
moment, which I wonder is a MacJams first? This definitely
says something positive about your music!

This was an interesting tune, different from the solo guitar
pieces. I liked the lyrics on this one but had some trouble
understanding some of the words (thanks for posting
them!) which were occasionally swallowed. But the style of
your vocal delivery was good and fit the music.

The quality of your voice is pleasing, rhythmic and in-
tune. The guitar playing is of course excellent.

I'm new to recording and don't know the technical terms
for the following observation. Somehow, this performance
sounded a bit far away, almost like I was listening to it
from the next room. The mix seemed to be balanced well
within itself though.

Your excellent musicianship is consistent, and your
pictures of tiles is definitely consistent!

Thanks for posting about these things. The far away sound might be the fact
that I played the guitar and sung at the same time. When doing that I guess I
can get a little away from the mic.

Ya, the words fly so quickly with a tune like that I might not of pronounced
the words exactly as I should of.

Thanks for delving deep into that song. It is very dear to me!

Nice smooth lines, expertly crafted, great attention to
detail, your tile work look fantastic! Not a bad song either.
Nice guitar work, love the 2:1 counterpoint and the
instrumental section that follows. I like story songs. glad
you earned your friends' respect. We all should show a
little more respect. Like using your turn signal. We can
spread word peace through respect and turn signal usage.
I'm gonna go 4 a bike ride now.

2:1 counterpoint, sounds like you are really into
the underpinnings of music.

Thanks

Chew on this &mdash 12/15/04 - 03:41:25 AM
I respect the fact that you did lyrics and guitar at the same
time. A cryin' shame you haven't made it big in the music
business. Or is tiling a better outing? You are awesome.
Great voice. I like how you chew on your vowels as they
pass out of your mouth.

Tiling is good because I can live around the area were my house is. But
original creative music does haunt me pretty badly. I have been working on a
what I think is a pretty elaborate guitar slide solo so I try to fit that in
especially when I can. Thanks much about the singing, I know some songs
may not be dead on as far as complete originality but I feel the Bike Race is
very dear to me. Thanks for the compliment. I don't know if I am doing my
vowels on purpose like that it just comes out.
