Description:
guitar fingerpicking

I wanted to compose a piece with a nice beat but with out the drums. This guitar was played on a guitar that I made myself. In fact Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers band was dating a girl in the back of my house. I have a little unit I remodeled.
He really liked the guitar I made for sure.

John Fahey, I've heard of him but have not really studied his music.

Thanks for the post!

Hey Tiler! &mdash 12/11/04 - 07:02:31 PM
This is the third song I have listened to or yours and upon
seeing the THIRD picture of a tile job, I thinking... this
guy's day job is a tile setter. Well, takes one to know one.
I started tile setting 25 years ago.

Your guitar playing really enjoyable to listen to. But I have
to say... that one tile over in the corner looks a little high.
Your better pull it up and reset it before the owner sees it
or she'll be over the whole job with a magnifying glass!

Ha, ya!

Tile work is as good as the owner you do the job for, for sure.

On one job you could do what you think is perfect and on the next you can
get picked to death. As I've gotten older, I have been having a pretty decent
string of luck but I try to have the feeling that the owner are almost always
right and take out the tile or tiles they may not like. But you have to leave
some in for a rustic look :)

with music at this level.

I sure can hear the Allman influence in this piece.

One of the biggest benifits to this site is the
collaborations afforded by the talent on this site. I can tell
the emails will be pouring in shorting wanting to collab
with you.

I think if I didn't have creative outlets that can get my brain to think a little
finer I would be unhappy! So I need to make the money in tile installation to
support my family and support my creative endeavors. I love my little studio
were I can work on my 2 gig G5. I just love all it's capabilities. I have
insomnia, which I find out is not so bad as the word implies. So even if I stay
up late composing etc. It will help me sleep through the night with out
getting up to early.

Thanks

very expressive! &mdash 12/12/04 - 08:54:52 AM
The guitar in your hands truly sings. The subtle nuances
you achieve on the instrument are an inspiration to me as
an instrumentalist.

This is a beautiful little piece, which I didn't want to end
as soon as it did. But this is one of those cases where it's
better to be "too short than too long"! (LOL)

You make the guitar sound like a a room full of
different instruments, with your various voicings and
rhythms. It's refreshing to hear a solo instrument on this
site, especially one played so well.

Thanks for mentioning about those subtle nuances. Ya there is a lower note
that kind of punches and if you mean things like that you are very perceptive
in catching that. I think it helped catch that jungle caravan feeling.

Thanks so much for posting about the tune!!

Self-made guitar &mdash 12/13/04 - 11:00:02 AM
The expressiveness of your playing is wonderful, and this
tune, especially, showcases your driving control and
emotive sense. But, on top of it all, you made the guitar
yourself! Wo. I'm glad you didn't add drums. The
rhythms you create with your fingers are perfect.

Thanks

I did make the guitar, I'll have to post a picture of it. I have not made enough
guitars to go out and make a living with it but I put enough work into it were
it is recordable I think. I had a 3000 dollar Andre Segovia type guitar that was
lost when it flew off the back of my truck going over a bridge so this guitar is
it's replacement!

aah! it fell out of the back of your truck? worse than that commercial where the girl throws her boyfriend's guitar out of the window in a huff. always makes me cry. but your story is even worse. maybe there's a guitar heaven somewhere?

Pleasant derivative solo piece. I prefer the complexities and originality of sound of, say, Leo Kottke, but this has a nice bright guiatr sound and very well done performance. You make a very nice sounding guitar.
