Description
Another collab with the missus. I wrote the music and she wrote the lyrics. All came together quite nicely methinks.
Here's her explanation of the words....
Inspired by experiences and stories on the theme of tenacity, I suppose. The brilliant but incredibly dark Will Self novel, ‘How the Dead Live’, the sci-fi short story “the Ruum’ by Arthur Porges and the steadfast Gabriel Oak in Thomas Hardy’s ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’.
And my own (ultimately succesful) search for my father.
Hope you like it
This song may ( or may not) sound better on headphones
cheers

Lyrics

business you did not address
sought you out, now you’re distressed
whines and begs relentlessly
eternal and unfed

be assured
they will find you
never gone
look behind you

didn’t learn from your mistakes
thought you’d left them in your wake
but they followed you to bed
and crawled into your sleep

be assured
they will find you
never gone
look behind you

now, alone, you contemplate
how you ended in this state
close your eyes and they will come
you’ll never be alone

be assured
they will find you
never gone
look behind you

your babies all come home
and nothing’s ever gone

First...
...yay first.
Love the chunky rhythmic guitars and bass here. Puts me slightly in mind of Alice in Chains circa "Dirt". That pounding rhythm and a cracking vocal performance. I like this a lot.
Sounds awesome on headphones.

It all just sort of came out like that.
The first guitar riff just came to me and everything followed..and the words just fitted brilliantly.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

Your better half did a nice job concerning the lyrics. Like how you turned this into a "When The Levy Breaks" type of tune. Or "Bullet the Blue Sky" by U2.

Very enjoyable song. Well done.

Thanks dave
When I played the song to my missus she was a bit taken aback as it wasn't what she had in mind when she wrote the words...and then I turned it into a led zep song ;-)
I hadn't thought of the comparison but can see what you mean.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

You are so GOTHIC
Kinda starts out like a good Cure song with that dark guitar riff. Then it builds up and gets bigger and bigger instrumentally. Your guitar pieces all compliment each other nicely.

Don'tcha love it when you freak the missus? I would've freaked as well. You have a very powerful and dark vocal approach on this song. It must be the plastic bag. The final chorus where you throw in that harmonizing backup vocal is absolutely spot on. Glad you waited to punch it in at that moment. Very dramatic and satisfying. I loved the suspense.

Your simple keys are so subtle and yet they really rock me, man. I love to see good keyboard riffs like this song boasts.

If I lived around the corner from you and heard you playing your tunes, I'd show up with my bass and audition for your band. Your wife might try to chase me off, but it wouldn't be the first time (I'm not saying that your wife has tried to chase me off before.... Oh, never mind!)

Downloaded and played loudly again and again (already)

Ta Bob
There's 'so gothic' and 'TOO gothic' I'm glad I didn't cross over that line.
Your comments crack me up.
The plastic bag is in the middle eight as I wanted some static noise but ended up crunching up a plastic bag.
The keyboards are the cheeze machine soft synth ( or whatever it's called)
In a way it feels like the harmonies at the end shouldn't be in a song like this..but what the heck!
Anyway, thank you very much for your kind comments and glad you liked it
cheers

Cool
Great song!
Agree with the others, that you laid down some first class rock n roll vocals on this one. harmonies are a nice bonus.
nice and heavy.
there's some really nice mixing of different guitar sounds and tones in there too.
really enjoyed it!

many thanks
Glad you liked it.
Tried to get a mix of guitar sounds on this.
Big wheels preset in GB on the chorus and then second guitar tuned down to D for the heavy crunch sound. It's nice to mix and ( hopefully) match.
Took me a while ( and a jar of honey) to get the vocals the way I wanted them
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

in your wake
love that simple lead bit that carries things along, also the fat synth bass. musically this is really melodic, reminds me of death cab for cutie (sung by a brit james hetfield lol). really like the "babies all come home" refrain, its true and it makes for a nice stomp at the end.

I haven't hear any death cab yet but will give them a listen.
A british james hetfield?
I didn't think I could get that kind of growl..but must have done somewhere ;-)
Glad you liked it and thanks for the listen

you can run....
You can run but you can't hide....so you better deal with it...own up to it....whatever.

Nice ominous feel from the start with your effective vocal on top of that non-stoppable, gonna getcha rhythm track.

There definitely is no escape here. It's gonna follow you until you own up to your past.

Music and lyrics go hand in hand. Powerful tune, Mr. Bee.

Heavy dude!
Sounds like you are channeling Masters of Reality era Sabbath (my fave) and Dave Brock. Love it! Really rocks. Like it when the delicate chimes come in, then it rocks out again. Love the lyrics too. Lyrics are often overlooked on MacJams, but these are great - brooding without being too specific. Cool cool song.

Jim Morrison
vibe going on in the pipeworks here me old mucker, you do the lyrics and subject matter full justice.Your other half is quite the wordsmith ain't she?

I like the bleakness of the music though ultimately the messag seems to be fairly positive. Different stuff for me,but I like different.

Gettin' the Morrison Vibe too..

Dark, but not so dark that it's lost. Good poetry in them lyrics. Excellent suspense around the 2:35 mark. Hypnotic, but not repetitive. Well delivered vocally and the harmony towards the end is inspired.

Nice work (both). Downloaded.

Ta Re-al
Thought it might be better to take it down in the middle eight rather than thrash it out with a guitar solo.
Think it worked ok...and the harmony refrain at the end shouldn't really be there in a song like this but I like to try and do the unexpected
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in
