Lyrics
Daisy Girl

She was born with diamonds in her hair
Angel dust in her hands and had no care
This soul had been here once before
As if life had walked her through an open door
She told me there was no place she'd rather be
Than wrapped up in a dream for all to see

CHORUS:
Singing melodies of days gone by
The songs live on and will never die
She was the one to make things well
Take a trip and throw her magic spell
She will always be
A Daisy Girl

Captured moments and teenage kisses
Such wasted times on gentle wishes
Life was slow but we wanted to hurry
Weren't we crazy to sit and worry
We should have breathed in life and slowed
To the beats of time
We had so much to learn

CHORUS

Barefoot dancing through the fields of time
Daisy Girl is a memory of mine
Friendships last like scenes from a play
To the tunes of life we can share one day
But I will always remember Daisy Girl
She will always be
A Daisy Girl

Daisy Chain Chained
Very professional, the Canadian goose this is modeled after has a long train behind her. The bells sound just right to me. Harmony and a 12 string, a coffeehouse special right here. Thanks for sharing this...

Joni Mitchell??

Holly, this is such a fresh breeze of song. And the comparison to Joni is serious. Take it as a high compliment.

Really sparkly-
Well produced (the vocals are a little bit further out front than I might put them, but that's just me. ) That said, the vocals are nice and clean, and I like the story you have to tell. This is a a really fresh sound, and yes the Joni comparison is apt to my mind, too.

Wonderful song
Your voice in this does bring Joni Mitchell to mind - a favorite of mine.
Which is indeed quite a compliment.
Beautiful arrangement too.

Well done - thanks !

Very Nice
Piece of work here. I think the double vocals makes the vox stand out a little too much. There may also be a tad too much verb but other than that everything is spot on - Vox, Guitar, Instrumentation. This is really a gem of a song. Thanks for some sweet folky goodness.

Daisy Girl
who was saying Joan Baez? I think you sound a lot like Joni Mitchell - especially the way you're skipping up and down several notes - really reminds me of her. holley, this is GREAT! love your vocals, the orchestration is done very tastefully well - love the horns in here. and as usual, as always, your 12 string sounds terrific! great job to all!

Lovely lilting tune. Yes,shades of Joni. Loved the stretched out groove, orchestration. Entwined double lead. Very listenable folk-rock track. Excellent post.

...and Nanci Griffith
...and Stevie Nicks singing harmony? (Now that would be a duet!) Production could use some polish, I think - a little softening (whatever that means) - but a great tune. (Bold synth is a little too bold for my taste.)

Lyrics...
"Friendships last like scenes from a play
To the tunes of life we can share one day"...
Awesome thoughts in these lyrics...so sweet and bittersweet all at the same time. The vocal performance, too, is sensitive to these fragile memories. "Daisy Girl" indeed! You're channeling the late 60's and do so with such security. I'm glad I heard this FIRST of your songs...
Peace.

Great voice
The production can use some fine tuning: that bass drum is just an irritating knock, and timing is sometimes off: for instance the guitar between 1:40 and 2:00. Click tracks are your friend!

Nice job on the strings and synth

Sorry I'm late for the show Holley.
Nice, nice track with Phillip's added instrumentation. A real Joni Mitchell feel to this one.

Simply classic!
