Description

I was feeling a little weird last week since I was coming up on the big 65 on Sunday, so I started thinking about oddities and this is the results.

Starts out in a Blues-Rock vane, then goes into a little BeBop, only to go back to Blues-Rock, hence the title of Schizophrenia.

If anyone has the urge to take this one on and play around with it, let me know and I'll send you and aif file on it.

It's a work in progress for me, and I'm hoping to get more done on it over time. Not sure where it's gonna end up though.

Nice thing to say to the old man.

This was an exercise in fun. I had the first groove down and decided to make a tempo change so I jump it up from 90bpm to 140bpm. Then I ran across the drum loop for the BeBop thing and just went for it. I was having pure unadulterated fun with it.

Can't wait to see and hear what kind of craziness this provokes on those that might be tempted to play with it. Could be very funny indeed.

Congrats on the Firsties by the way, it doesn't happen often. Feter's gonna be soooo jealous. :;-)

I was just letting my true self come through. Mostly I just sit in the corner and listen to the voices. About 8 times out of 10 they say "don't shoot". Of course I alway ask them "Why"

Well it's not too bad for a deaf guy I guess. I'll tell ya this it was a lot of fun to do this strange brew. What possessed me to put the BeBop in the middle I have no idea, but I kinda thought it was cool after I did it so there ya go, Weird is my middle name don't ya know.

	yes excellent, love those guitar sounds. as I remember you told me an interesting trick (and i forgot to make note of it). this is excellent, kind of reminds me of Jeff Beck Blow by BLow (the track that the engineer accidentally erased). excellent tones throughout, you're smoking( no birthday tripping okay?). I have no idea where this particular combination came from, but it was a lot of fun figuring it all out.

The trick I mentioned might have had to do with copying a guitar track to another empty track and then layering the sounds using different amp sims or voices.

Speaking of voices, that's why it's called Schizophrenia.

I started out liking the groove and digging that funky riff... but I ended up loving that tempo change! that was awesome man! Went to almost like a jazz fusion type deal and it made me want more! I have to say those transitions segued very well for the overall feel of everything too, which I am well aware takes quite a bit of experience and sense of flow. Thanks for this piece dude!

Well I typed a response,
but I forgot to hit post button, so here goes again.

You're right about the segue part, it can be a little difficult on something like this. I think the one going into the BeBop section was smoother than the one coming out of it, and I may go back in and fix that later. But the thing about this one was it was just plain fun to do.

That time chance was just something I threw in to keep it from getting boring. Once I had the time change, I played around with some different drums until I had what I thought would sound cool. Then I played the rest of the parts on bass, guitar, or keys. Except for the Vibes, that was a series of loops.

Glad you enjoyed the ride Richard. It is a bit strange, but altogether satisfying.

This is so far from schizophrenia. Very VERY cool track.While my classical flutes and oboes and piano wouldn't work too well here, I sure hope someone will step forward with an extension of the funky flooring you've provided. This is just a lot of fun to listen to with all sorts of colorful flavorings the pop around the core. Really enjoyed this.

If everyone wasn't asleep I'd have bust a gut L-ing OL when the jazzy break came in. Very fun. And what a slap in the face it is wen you drop off the cliff back into blues. But this DOES need vox or a lead instrument hard and heavy in the front if ya ask me. So there WILL be a future version of this song (if it's the last thing I do--except I'm in no way qualified to do them jazzy bits. (I better stay on your good side since all I can do is bang on my 6 strings (usually a coulpe at a time).

Sorry about that,
the Dehavilland Beaver was broken when we took it out of the hangar, so I couldn't get to the concert. Besides, there was a big argument going on inside my head as to what to play, and even whether to go or not. I just wish the voices would be still for a while so "I" could think.
