Passage The passage of time... my daughter began university last year, so I can relate... My youngest is only 4 though, starting kindergarten in the fall, so I have many years to go through it all over again... This is very pretty and soulful, the kind of music that I find very moving. Kind of traveling music... I'd love to hear this on acoustic... have you transcribed this in notation, by any chance? Check out my latest song called Scarlet Nightfall

You never fail to delight with your playing and your sense of melody and rhythm. Very cool track Mark. I can imagine there is a little trepidation in your heart as she goes, but trust her and she'll love you for it. All things are as they are supposed to be in life. Needs words... I mean, I dunno, leaving, and the whole bird and nest metaphor... it cries out for that sort of poetry... And you can trust me, Mark... I'm gonna help you out here... Let's see... 'If I leave here tomorrow...', 'cause it's about leaving, right?...um....'Would you still remember me?'...very poignant... whole yearning thing going on...Wait, wait... all these lines popping into my head...Something something...''cause I'm as free as a bird now'... See, I'm working in the whole bird metaphor with the freedom and leaving theme, see how clever that is...'and this bird you cannot change'... And then you're going to have to work out a triple-overdubbed guitar solo... And when you're done with that, go download bud's 'Zeppy collab' and work your 'Heartbreaker/Livin' Lovin' Maid' magic on it... You know you want to... Okay, all tastelessness aside, this is a very pretty tune, Mark, and well suited to the departing daughter theme, and I think you've got a gorgeous guitar tone on this. Sounds very nice over my speakers... I want the long version, though, with the dog barking and the drum solo in the middle. so the dog knows the longer version? I like Ed's suggestion on lyric choices. Here are some more if those sound to southern. Free as a bird, (some of them actually live in cages) it's the next best thing to be. (and free bird seed) Free as a bird. Home, home and dry, (I'm pretty sure that means out of the rain) like a homing bird I'll fly as a bird on wings. (at last count they have two each) Mark, this is a nice, gentle tune on the wind. Your skills... ...at writing and playing are really remarkable. This is a sad-sweet song that plays with the melancholy like nothing I've ever heard quite like it. That little luft pause after the 4th beat in your theme is really appealing and quite unique. Your command of so many unusual chords keeps me wanting more and more...Such a mellow number, beautifully played.(I am always taken by the expertise you bring to your instrument. Quiet joy Such a nice tune, marvelous track. It sings, truly. Thanks for sharing this. The osprey is one of my fav all time birds. I lived on an Indian reservation 32 years ago and several nests were along the lake where our cabin nestled. That was back when they were an endangered species. watching them dive below the surface and emerge with a fish, then align the fish aerodynamically to its body and fly away was awe-inspiring.
