Description
My first collaboration. This is a tune by ktb he let me fool with. The original is here: http://www.macjams.com/song/51689
I used ktb's piano, pad, and wah tracks. I cobbled together a new drum track from samples and played the rest live, jazz bass and strat. Having never done a collab before I was timid about changing too much or using loops and samples. I did use one loop which is the single note guitar with echo and phase on it during the jam out section. The bass line is way too busy and the guitar solo is sloppy but I sort of ran out of time because we are moving and there is lots to do but maybe that is a good thing. Left with unlimited time I would of surely made the song unrecognizable.

Hopefully someone will take it further. A better guitar player would be able to pull off those Wes Montgomery licks much better than I and maybe another solo would be good. Anyway cheers MJers, don't hold back on the critiques.

Glad you
like it Feter. I learned a lot by taking ktb's tracks and playing with them. It is very different from doing it all yourself I found out. Still I couldn't help but put my smooth jazz stamp on it.

cheers

This could be sweet with a female vocalist.

luvin this
Dave, great tracks sir. This is so much smoother. The new drums and your percolating bass are uber tasty.
The jam finish is my favorite part. Thank you, and good luck with the move!

I love the jam section as well. It is what we do here every Thursday night. Those moments of live jamming that are magic, keep me alive.

Good groove
But the guitar parts don't have enough identity, so it keeps sounding like a backing track. A really good backing track, though.

Totally
It still needs a soloist to sprinkle some fairy dust on it. I think it needs a melody and another solo.

Percussion
The percussion loop you selected fits perfectly.
However, the bass stole the show!
